I have a new LG washer and just noticed at the end of the final spin when it is coasting down it opens the cold inlet valve three times and lets in cold water for a second or so each time. Is this normal? Most of the water goes down the inside of the glass door from the soap dispenser but some also goes on to the load. I cannot figure out what the purpose of this would be. Perhaps it is an error with my machine?
Anyone else noticed this on the new LG front loaders?[this post was last edited: 10/22/2023-19:22]

Does it happen during every cycle, or maybe only during the TurboWash cycles/ with that option selected?

That sounds a lot like TurboWash behaviour.
That does spray rinses and might cut down spin times to the point that it might end the spin right after the spray rinse.

Connecting the machine to the app is a pretty good idea for the most part, even if you don't use it, since it pushes firmware updates that might optimise such behaviour.

Completely normal for these. My V10 from 2021 does the same, unfortunately with our high water pressure it ends up spraying into the drum and rewetting the laundry after the 1600 spin. The Eco and Turbowash 39 cycles are the only ones that don’t do this.

The newer models don’t do this, but I haven’t had an update pushed through yet. Another unusual quirk of mine is that it doesn’t reverse tumble during the boilwash, which again the newer ones don’t do. It’s otherwise a fun machine to use, generally performs well once you adapt to its programming quirks, and well put together.

I bought my mum one early this year and have not seen that action.
She has an F6WV709P1.
Neither have I seen the boilwash tumbling issue.

Might be load size rating related than aswell.
The boilwash tumbling issue seems just odd, though.

Jon, if you still have warranty on it, you have the nerve to deal with customer service, and it does that on every boilwash cycle, might be worth taking a quick video and scheduling a service call.

They might either get that fixed via an update then, or they might escalate the issue.

Post a quick video

Ask and you shall receive :). I have linked below to my YouTube the full cottons 95 cycle where you can see it doing this.

Mines a 2021 model V10, 9kg 1600. It is under its 5 year warranty still, but in honesty, I only use the machine maybe two or three times a month as it sits among the collection, and even more seldomly still use a boilwash so it’s not much of an issue for me. As it’s easy for me to access I tend to turn the water supply off when it’s on the final spin to stop it flushing at the end. It doesn’t always heat to target temperature either and will often be as much as 10° under or over. It does like to err on the side of 4 hours too for anything more than a half load on cottons. Both of these issues you can workaround by using cycles to what they do, rather than to what the dial says it’s for

It’s just a bit of a quirky machine really with easy ways to bypass and workaround - but would be annoying if it was my only machine. It’s a really fun machine for washday drama with the Turbowash sprays, and overall does a reasonable job.

How is your mum getting on with the LG? I am still impressed with how well it balances, the suspension (with 100N shocks) handles very well. It might get noisy sometimes in the spin but it very rarely struggles to spin and will always reach max speed, and remains stable with little vibration.

Jon, your load looks very similar to the load I will be doing in about 3 hours, but mine will only get to 71 to 73 degrees C. I'm thankful my initial fill routine doesn't do those 4 or 5 short bursts of water I will post later what my cycle time turned out to be, including the prewash, extra hot, turbowash, max soil level.

Thanks Guys, that is very reassuring. Jon, that is the exact same thing my LG does when it has slowed the spin down from 1400. 3 short bursts of water then drum stops and then jiggles to loosen the load. Not sure if I think it is a good idea or not. As I tend to always use the dryer probably would prefer it didn't take in that water at the end but I guess in the scheme of things, it isn't much. Thank you for the link to the video.

Overall, I really like this machine. Love the 4 jets spraying in to the load. It does do a brief spray rinse on turbo. It has some cool drum action too. The wash cycles are pretty long but have found if I use the mixed load it only takes 1 hour 40 mins and can set 40C and 1400 spin on that cycle. I tend to avoid the turbo cycle as it uses a fair bit more water. We live in rural Australia and rely on tank water. As we are facing a very long hot dry summer I am pretty stingy with water usage.
Happy laundering
Simon
