We purchased an LG true steam dishwasher a little over 2 years ago. Not a great machine. Looks good and lots of features but we have to use the power cycle which is the longets hottest heavy duty cycle as all other cycles give poor results. So 70 days after the warranty ran out the machine packed up. The on/off touch sensor button would not work. Going on line countless numbers of complaints about this model with the exact same problem. LG refused to fix under any sort or warranty so I decided to tinker. I removed the facia and found that there were small square sponges stuck to the buttons inside the machine that interfaced with the sensor touch button on the facia. The sponge had fallen off several of the buttons including the on/off button. Stuck them back on, put it all back together and it all works. An obvious design fault. I am sure it will happen again but at least I know how to fix it.

So now no need to go shopping for a new dishwasher this weekend. There was no way I was going to pay big bucks for a technician to come out and fix a machine I am not overly impressed with when only had it for just over 2 years.

I have heard similar stories about LG at least a half a dozen times. Not to mention my own experience. Points for style but that's about it...
