my friend has a washer called a LG intellowasher, i also saw the label turbo-drum on it....it looked kind of like a portable washer but it could fit as much as my maytag performa can because it has an impeller for an agitator (i think thats what there called). It has a stainless steel tub that looks like the picture below, I really liked the looks of the machine and how it worked so I though I might buy a used one since there is some on my local kijiji....but then i saw that her washer leaked really bad (like a bucket after one load) not sure why or where the leak was coming from but it was pretty bad.....just wondering what the dependability is with these machines because she said hers was like 10 years old so she was just waiting for it to break...and its a top loader btw.

Friends of ours in Sydney have had one for 14 years. It has been incredibly reliable only needing a pump and hose in that time, which he did himself. I'd suggest that, provided the electronics are fine, it would last and that non 'electronic' parts such as pumps etc are easy to do.

Have a look at your friends - I bet that there will be an issue with either the pump or a hose for it to leak that badly...

Had one for 5 years

Hi Norgechef,
We have owned one of these washers for the last 5 years and it hasn't missed a beat, have been very happy with it,all the Turbodrum function means is that the pulsator turns in one direction, the drum turns the opposite way and the 3 mini wings on top of the pulsator turn around as well.
I find it has a good rollover of loads, however I would advise if you get one do not put too may items with either long sleeves or long legs in one load as the load will tangle, otherwise no issues with tangling.
Hope this helps you decide.
Cheers.
Steve.

My moms aunt has had hers for about 10 yrs and its still going strong. I think hers is a 9 or 10kg but it has a decent capacity. Here in SA we get an 8.2kg, 10kg, 13kg 15kg (think the 15 has been discontinued) and the new 16kg has just come in. I had the 8.2kg for about 2 yrs. It was good and the stuff always came clean but I sold it because with the small drum it wasn't worth keeping

sorry to put a downer on it also

i moved out 3 months ago and the lg im using is an amazingly reliable washer and the same thing just 6.5 kg but i honestly cant stand the tangling and constant shredding of clothes and lint everywhere its about 9 years old and still going strong though:P
