Hi,

I have an LG F4J5TN3W 8kg washing machine that I have noticed has a problem on the odd occasion with dispensing fabric softener prematurely, as soon as I put it in the blue section, it sometimes syphons out immediately.

I notice when I do small loads, the machine takes in very little water, so when it fills on the fabric conditioner part of the cycle, it doesn't fill for very long, I have to adapt to use less fabric softener. Full loads, it would obviously fill with more water so I can use more softener.

I have noticed this from the early part of owning the machine, which I have had since the 1st August 2017. It hasn't always done it. The water pressure is fine. Nothing looks distorted in the drawer, so this is a mystery. I have thought about turning the water tap down, so the pressure is not so strong. I just cant think of a solution. Its not blocked, water pressure is fine and it hasn't always syphoned out immediately.

Anyone experienced this with an LG before? I like the machine a lot, but not experienced this with any other make before. Please note, I have had 2 other LG's and noticed the first machine syphoned out in the first week of ownership and then it started to work fine and the other one prior to this machine, I think I recalled also syphoned out early whilst dosing the softener. Love the machine apart from this.

I look forward to your comments.

Just a thought, have you taken the drawer out and apart for cleaning and possibly not put it back together correctly? It is a simple drain port but maybe the holes are not lined up together. Maybe take it out clean it out and take your time to reassemble. Since you have had another machine do this makes me think this is not the problem though.

Is there already water in the fabric conditioner compartment?

I've noticed with some brands of machine, that they sometimes allow water to collect in that compartment.

Panasonic have a system of two opposing water feeds. One feed scooshes across to the opposite side of the soapbox roof to flush the prewash compartment. The other flushes across in the other direction for the mainwash compartment. Both firing together, causes the water to deflect to the centre compartment for fabric conditioner dispensing.

I had noticed that when the machine added extra rinses of its own accord, sometimes (not all the time) that there would be excess water in the fabric conditioner compartment.

How many capfuls of which brand of softener are you using? You really don't need gallons of the stuff these days.

Oh, and check the conditioner siphon. It can become gunked up with residue.

On my LG machine there is a small point in the softener compartment denoting the max level, if you fill the compartment above the tip of the point, it syphons back out.
Hope this helps

Water in Conditioner Compartment

It's happened to me a moment ago!

As I opened the dispenser drawer to load fabric softener, I saw the compartment full to the brim with water. The action of opening of the drawer jostled the water which then siphoned out with a small "slurp!".

The last load done was a couple of days ago, a small load of coloureds. I think the interim spins must have been aborted in favour of extra rinses - which makes me wonder exactly when the conditioner was dispensed.

(We never had this hassle in the olden days!)
