I was going to say, 100.00 for the drum, maybe brand new for a replacement, but scrap value, 10.00 is pushing it.......her mind like the 100, one too many zeros

This is the model I bought for my cousin in Maryland with its matching electric dryer. That was back in 2011. She lets her neighbors do huge loads in it. Mostly bedding. She loads it loosely up to the rim not in. Big clumps or piles. If you throw a twisted,clumped load in ANY top loading washer,it knots and tangles making a huge mass causing the spins to become severely off balance. Mine went off balance with a set of throw rugs but not severe enough to stop and redistribute. I'm sure this is a customer abuse/miss use and neglect.

I wonder if it's the owner who had an attitude like- "OH, I KNOW HOW TO USE THIS MACHINE" and didn't bother reading the manual and would always just dump the clothes into it without loading it properly and assume they could get away with that because of it's size. And that is the reason for all the issues they are having.

Also, if they have been doing that, what kind of damage could they have possibly done to it since they have had it?
