Lidl Formil - Now In Gel Format

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Gel

Chris,

Thank you for the explanation. The liquid laundry detergents available here are generally much thinner in viscosity that what you have described about gel products.

What gel products are available in the US are mainly for automatic dishwashing. These are thick enough to understand what you are talking about in using the product cap as a dosing cup. It will be interesting to see if such a laundry formulation will be introduced to American consumers.

Until Front Loading Washers Totally Replace

Front loaders I shouldn't think it will happen anytime soon.

Most liquid "HE" detergents sold here can be used in top or front loading washers. With the former things would get tricky chucking a dosing cap into the tub.

Regarding the Lidil detergent. The bottle looks very similar to those of the French Ariel Excell Gel I've in my stash.

Gave it a try

40 degree cotton wash, with two hour soak and extra water option

Seemed to be not bad although there were a couple of "shadows" on a couple of hankerchiefs. Hardly any fragence left in the spun items. Although very cheap (£2.39!!) I did notice that the Formil concentrated liquid was the same price for 28 washes (gel was 20) with makes it an even cheaper option
