Went to Lidl's first store in my area (and boy does it run circles around Aldi) and bought their laundry detergent, Complete Clean. Cheap, just $7.99 for a 96 load jug. Comes in Regular and Free & Clear. Says "Compare to Tide". Indeed, I saw no difference in performance. My laundry is lightly soiled, no major stains and it came out just as good as with regular Tide. Far superior to Arm & Hammer, All and Gain.

I would be willing to try their detergent. House brands have improved a lot since a few years ago, remarkably so. We don't have an Aldi's or Lidl's store near us, we have the huge grocer HEB. Have been using their house brand Bravos and it's very good, enough not to drive into the city to Sam's Club for their Wind Fresh (excellent detergent). Bravos is specially formulated for Texas hard water, marketing ploy I'm sure, but it does well. I think it cleans about as well as Tide, but ALOT cheaper. It smells sort of like bubble gum, but after clothes are dry it dissipates quite a bit.

Anyone else like house brands?
