I did a Web Search about this the other day and it also reminded me of my younger years when I would raid the pop and candy machines at the laundromat, first as a small boy, and then later on through my college years. Anyway, Life Savers started as a company by itself before it was purchased by Nabisco and that big Ol conglomerate of Altrea or RJR Nabisco. Then, Life savers was split into two. The Life Savers Candy part was acquired by Wrigley. The BREATHSAVERS mints part went to Hershey Foods. To learn more, visit Wrigley.com and BREATHSAVERS.com.--Laundry Shark

When I was little and my family would drive from Rome, NY to Schenectady, NY to visit friends, we knew we were getting close when we would pass the Life Savers factory just off the NYS Thruway...

More Memories of Life Savers

Interesting that you drove right past the Life Savers plant. Who could forget those Life Savers Lollypops and Life Savers Gum? I forget what they call these now, but these individually wrapped Life Savers that are slightly larger than in the roll. Also as a kid, we had one of those Life Savers frisbies. Of course, it was shaped like a Life Saver with the hole in the middle and the lettering on top. When I was in kindergartin, I once got this gift pack type thang for Christmas of all kinds of rolls of Life Savers flavors. It opened like a book. Unfortunately, at that time, I was sick with the flu and could not enjoy that candy box all that well, but it was interesting anyway. As for BREATHSAVERS? Nothing like that blue in the middle (or green), depending on which flavor. Now if only I could find some videos or at least audios of old Life Savers and BREATHSAVERS commercials. *grins* Enough of my rambling.--Laundry Shark
