Hi

Does anyone have a motor or know if any are still available for a 1969 Whirlpool washer model number model#LTA5605E0 serial#02699 5849.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
David

Any two speed whirlpool belt drive washer motor will work on this model whirlpool, so you can use any motor from 1956 through 1986 on this washer that was used in a whirlpool or Kenmore belt drive machine.

So it shouldn’t be too hard to find a motor for this washer.

That motor absolutely WILL NOT work for your LTA5605E0. It's for the mechanical design known as VMW (vertical modular washer) introduced new in 2010.

VMW replaced the direct-drive design which was introduced in 1981 and ended in 2010/12.

The belt-drive design of your LTA5605 dates much older and ended in 1986/87.

Hi David,

I suggest checking whirlpool part number 285222 on eBay and parts stores. Not sure if parts stores have any left, but there are a variety of 285222s on eBay.

Sometimes sellers list used motors under the 285222 number, but 285222 is/was whirlpool’s almost universal motor for original belt drives (all one and two speed motors but were not listed for three speed models).

Good luck in your search

Used Emerson two speed motor, this is what you need. The one thing you need to do before you use that motor since it’s been sitting around a while is to completely polish all the rust off the motor pulley in the area where the belt rides.

I usually just put a jumper cord on the motor and plug it in and then take a fine file and use it to polish the rust away while the motor is running, if you don’t do this, it will shred the belt in the first year of use. The rest, will not wear away easily from the pulley.

You should also put a few drops of turban oil down along the motor shaft to give it a good start for its new life.

You can also pop the steel bearing cover off the bottom of the motor and oil felt wicking on the bottom bearing as well if you like.
