Lightburn Twin Tub

A Lightburn cement mixer style twin tub is for sale on Ebay.

One would have a lot of fun with this machine. You could fill the tub with as much or as little water as you like.

I remember them

I remember these Lightburn washing machines in caravan parks in the 1960's. They produced loads of creamy lather and could take much more washing than the standard twin tubs of their day. I think they were also popular with institutions such as the armed services.There was no safety lid for the high speed spinners.

If u are ever in Western Australia and u visit the Fremantle Prison, take the Doing Time tour and one of these machines is in the first place u go to, seemingly still hooked up, its sort of in the admin office where all the prison linens are kept, was shocked to see it and was very kool
