Well, it took some planning and engineering, but I finally managed to get a shipment of new toys from John (Combo52) in Maryland up to Ogden. It actually went to Vermont and I just had to zip over the border to pick up my shipment. I had taken a half day off work to get to the freight broker in Vermont - I got caught in a mega traffic jam on the way out of Montreal (yet another overpass with a hole in it...) and thought I might not make it. But I did! The rusty, oops, I mean trusty old Ford got yet another load of vintage appliances to Ogden!

First - some GE Washer/Dryer parts. Most importantly - there's a thermostat from a 1959 combo that I hope will finally make my 56 dry function work again! Also in the ensemble, a door boot, a timer, a timer motor and a belt for a Whirlpool washer. Pure gold!!
Not shown are a Whirlpool dryer door with a window in it and a Whirlpool washer motor. Thanks John!!

A multi-cycle model - fairly simple selections: Normal wash, Light wash, 150 Degree wash, and Rinse only.

AND....

It has a Roto-Rack!!
Yep, this is the dream machine right out of my profile. I can't believe I finally have one!!

Note the lower rack - full width, flat configuration. Seems pretty ordinary, right?
Look closer - that's an impeller down there, not a spray arm! I have never seen a D&M machine with impeller wash and a flat rack; they always seemed to be the round style. Pretty neat!

BUT, the drain pump had issues. All I heard was a buzz whet I powered it up. I was a bit disappointed.

However, I decided to take the pump out and inspect it. Geez, look at the crud in there! Once removed, the pump started up fine!!

Encouraged, I thought it might be fun to try a more extensive test. That's when I discovered this...

Or so I thought... I noticed some scorching on the timer connection for what I guess would be the heater wire...

turquoisedude++7-17-2011-22-54-20.jpg

And this could be why... The thermostat for the heating element is kaput... Think I'll be looking for a new one of these!

And I am a bit unsure as to the year of this machine. I swear I saw a date stamp that read '63' on a the rinse agent reservoir, but I am not sure.
To help date it, the model number is 587.65530 and the serial number is 58113.
Can't wait to do more testing on this one!

It's a stand-alone GE pull out (model 1-SU60M3 serial number 55117741) which I believe would date it to 1955.
Racks and cutlery basket are perfect!

And when hooked up, it worked just fine!! The original light still works too - this baffles the hell out of me because I could not figure out how to make the light for the 56 in the Kitchen Centre work...
I did a water test, too and it went just fine!
Sadly, I don't think I will be keeping this machine... I got three more machines than I planned to this year so far and I reeeealllllly don't want a divorce...
Stay tuned...

<span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Very cool Kenmore Dishwasher!</span>

<span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Does the Roto-Rack just spin from the impeller below?</span>

<span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Looks like fun!</span>

I have a " Philco " branded model of your Kemoe,

Dude. Not as fancy  , just two buttons , no rinse agent apparatus ,no electric illuminada.  Brent , there is a perforated black spray

tube aimed at the rotorack on mine ; same on Pauls I would wager.

Guess what color mine is , Paul !!!!

Wow, love the Pink racks in the Kenmore Paul. The whole styling of the Kenmore is absolutely beautiful. It appears this is a 1965 model by the model number, but the catalog model is slightly different. Not sure what is going on there.
