It seems that maybe we have gone over this before, but I'm not certain - so I'm going to raise the question again. Is anyone aware of any new top-loader that includes a lint removal system (either self-cleaning or manual)? Or has this feature been completely eliminated from today's market?

Speed Queen uses a self-cleaning filter in their TL's. Lint removal on ours is fair not great. Nothing beats the recirculated filtration on older TL's.

Filter Action

My SQ FL has a filtering action. If you move back the fold of the gasket, there is a trap where water will cascade down the glass door and flow back into the wash tub. Larger pieces of lint and pet hair collect here. I typically scoup out the lint/hair after a three or four loads of laundry.

lint filter

my frigidaire top loader i just bought last march has a self cleaning lint filter under the tub just like SQ TL's, i am not sure how good it works, if even at all, hard to tell. i guess you would have to let a load wash for a bit then remove the tub somehow to inspect it.

Haier TL's too

I don't know the exact details, but many of the Haier top-loaders have lint filters, and if I remember correctly, they're often of the recirculating type too.

Also, five years ago, my mom briefly owned a GE Profile Harmony top-loader. To the best of my knowledge it didn't actually have a lint filter, but it still did a fantastic job of handling lint, hairs, etc. (She returned it for a GE TL with agitator, which she still has; it does a terrible job with lint and pet hairs.)

I use a metal mesh disposable lint snare or "sock" on the end of the Affinity discharge hose that empties into the laundry sink. I've used these for many years to keep help keep my sewer pipes running freely.

Is this an OK gauge to use for how well a self-cleaning filter works? They always seem to fill up real fast after washing throw rugs.
