Liquid potpourri as fabric softener

could you use liquid potpourri as fabric softener, i know it probably wouldn't make the clothes soft but it would give them a nice smell.Just wondering if it would stain clothes with the oils in it? if it even has oil in it....not sure

Depending upon the chemicals you not only could end reeking for ages but break out in a rash as well.
