Lizzy was a chronic over loader!

I am working on her 1957 Kemore. Tt is apparent, in life, she was a washer stuffer! Big time!
Not only were both the spin bearings gone due to water intrusion but the transmission was full with water when I opened it up. It gushed all over me!

And to boot wouldn't you know it I was wearing my Tommy Bahama jeans which give me the "hot butt" at work!!

So I broke out my $9 purchase from Ocean State Job Lot! My buzzy pen from Tide and used it for the first time. WOWooo!

I have NEVER Gotten transmission oil out of anything ever and it BUZZED it right out into the soak-up cloth supplied!!
Now that was pretty cool because I knew before I put them into the Neptune on the Stain cycle that the stain was already gone!

Get one quick is my advice!!

Nine dollars?? Wow, you could give them as gifts - stocking stuffers even. Socks with stains so the recipients can play with their new toys? Maybe not. I'll have to look for these around here, I've always wanted to play with one but when they were $50 I couldn't justify spending that - my clothes aren't even worth that much!

So we don't BOTH get slapped for being in the wrong forum, were you able to save the parts from the tranny or do you have another to use?

Oh I think

I can do a careful clean up and brush up and it will be fine.
But I was surprised as to the AMOUNT of water inside the transmission. When I took the cap nut off the spring that holds downt the cam bars water squirted out the hole of the nut!!!

Yes Mark I can definetly say that Pen works and well!

If you have trouble finding them as they are not being made anymore ( which makes them Vintage) Amazon.com has them for 29.99 and some "used" for 9.99 BUT if you have a local reseller like Ocean State Job Lot or Building 19 I bet you will find them there reduced to go.
I tell you the only reason > 1957< ( I have to put that vintage figure in there) they did not catch on is lazy consumers. OY!

Maybe the targeted consumer group thought this contraption looked like a vibrator (Donovan's famous electrical banana) with the TIDE logo on it just like the race car that has the TIDE logo all over it. It angered them because if hubby spent less time with the races and more with his beloved, she would not even need to think about the TIDE BUZZER. Or, maybe they figured that they spent enough money on detergent and if the stain did not come out, it would be a shmata to wear around the house until they purchased a front load HE washer which would make old shmatas look like new.

I am sold that Tide Buzz thing really works! I went out and got Greg one to play with!

Well Lizzy had a funky washer that's for sure! When I got the tranny all cleaned up I found a factory screw up.
They never put the ball bearing into the cup under the agitate shaft. The steel plate was there under the shaft and sitting all cockeyed because the ball had been missing for 48 years and Lizzy never knew it!

I am surprised there wasn't more damage to the agitate shaft.

A testament to Whirlpool engineering I'll have to admit!
