hi all in the uk have been wondering about a detergent called logic lately as i recently remembered that when i was young, my grandma allways used to use logic powder, and i noticed i had a bottle of logic stain remover in the cupboard, was thinking of getting some logic powder but i cant find it anywhwere, is it not made anymore?

Asda logic

Before Asda logic it was called Asda integra along side Safeway Cyclon , Tesco Advance & the all time classic Sainsburys Novon.

Sainsburys Novon

It was before i developed my interest in detergents and washers but my Mum used Novon alot, i can even remember her recommending it to friends and family. Was it any good???

LOL

I was only thinking about Tesco Advance the other day when I was sorting under the sink out (I have way too many detergents, trying to use them).

Advance was actually a side line at the time in conjunction with the regular Tesco Automatic and the Value Automatic.

Sold as being a TOL product to compete with Ariel and Persil although more the Ariel Future and Persil Compacts despite being a normal dose powder from what I remember.

When it first came out I remember it being in a shipping unit displayed just inside the doors of Tesco in Northwich which was our only local Tesco at the time. Mum would prefer the drive there to shop than put up with the Asda in town and it was something different to our usual local Sainsburys or Safeway shop.

They only had 2 variants, Colour and Biological, intro offer of half price £1.24 lol needless to say at that price mum stocked up.

When it went full price is when it seemed to dissapear, it was good stuff, everything seemed to be clean. although I suppose its failure was price, an E3 box of ariel back then was around the £2.40 mark so £2,49 odd for an own label even though it was brilliant probably put customers off and Mum went back to Ariel.

The regular own label was arounf £1.70 a box IIRC with daz and surf around £2.00.

Novon Liquid used to be used occasionally, not often enough for me to comment greatly but im sure if it didnt work Mum wouldnt of had it again.

I do remember its smell which was not too dissimilar to modern Ecover liquid in a way. Spicy.

Safeway cyclon biological liquid was a good standbye too if cash was a bit short and if there was no money Mum would eek out a box of Safeway Savers biological mixed half and half with Ariel twin tub powder as it was cheaper than the auto version for an E3. she would get around 30 washes for about £2.60 doing that.

Asda Logic

I briefly remember my mums friend used to use Asda Logic, this was in 1996/1997, she had a Zanussi Jetsystem FJ1093 washing machine, that she told me she bought in 1994, I remember her detergent of choice was ASDA Logic with Silk detergent, which smelt devine.

I remember Sainsburys Novon, I remember using their detergent briefly in 2008 at uni, it was repackaged as Sainsburys Bio in 2002/2003 in a green box and it smelt like ariel (old formula), and cleaned very well. Then they changed it again in 2009 and reduced the box size and the quality of the detergent changed too, and turned into a clumpy soapy cheap detergent which didn't clean as well as the old formula.

Novon & Cyclon

Thanks Rob for the pic. (brings back the memories) I honestly think Sainsburys made a very bad mistake by doing away with the name Novon. Also when Morrisons bought Safeway the names Cyclon & Vecta carried on for quite sometime after the takeover then they disappeared. I'm sure that Cyclon & Vecta were a registered trade mark of Safeway so i wonder why Morrisons dropped the well known names.
