Help Support :

It is nice though isn't it...did you see the pics of the interior...better than a trip to Disneyland.
Internet Peddlar is selling that for someone on a 30%commision..geeze. It's very tempting but I really don't want a fridge

OMG!!!

And it's only 47" wide! Hey Pete, if I buy it, will you keep it for me until I figure out a way to stuff it into my apartment? :-)

The Foodarama is my dream fridge....

*sigh*

John

Well if you're crazy enough to buy it I'd go fetch it. It's a long 1865 miles on mapquest from there to here. That's just about a 3 day drive to pick up your dream refrigerator that you may never ever have the chance to own again if you didn't go for it now and you'll be kicking yourself and crying like a baby for years and years saying over and over why didn't I go for it, oh why didn't I go for it till the men in the white suits come to take you away to a nice place in the country where teams of doctors will probe you never knowing what you were supposed to go for. On your tombstone it will be written:
"Here lies JD in St L. He never went for it" LOL

Foodarama

Fly there, rent a truck, drive back.

Pete's right, those things dont' shop up that often, especially in good conditon. I imagine they didn't sell too many of them, they probably were EXPENSIVE at the time, so I wouldn't be surprised if sales were mostly to the "Upper Crust" of society.

Nuts I may be....

...but you don't know how tempting this is, LOL! Seriously, one of these babies, oh, so modern, so youthful, so new!!! I mean really, after one acquires a 600 lb refrigerator, what more in life could you ask for?

Grrrrr.... :)

John

BTW, Kenny, I think...

...you're right, that Amana did have the first side-by-side...I could swear I saw that somewhere on the net recently, but now can't find it :(

John

Kelvinator came out with the first side by side as they are now known in late 1954 as a new 1955 model. I have the Leonard version of one, which is a badge engineered Kelvinator. AMC marketed Kelvinator and Leonard appliances alternately in different regions. Mine is in working but very rough condition, as found in the basement of an old house. You haven't lived until you have had to move one of these out of a basement!!!!!! Took four of us and a lot of sweat to heave it out............but its probably one of the most glamourous refrigerators ever made. Sure wish I had room in my house to use one of these...........BTW their ads used to read: "47 inches of Modern Refrigeration in One Compact Cabinet" !!!!!!

Hehe...

Pete, you said "Keeping you awake at night is it? "...

...I've had to check the pic every time I checked in here :)

John

John, listen to the sound of my voice.....

You.....will....buy....it...You...will....buy...it...

Look, we got it all planned out: you'll buy it, Pete will be a love and hold it for you, you fly up to Canada, visit with Pete, then rent a truck and drive 'er back. Come on--it's got an unrefrigerated banana bin! (I remember Hillary Brooke mentioning that in her fake finishing-school accent.) What could be better than that? Nobody likes a cold banana.

As for fitting it in your apartment, screw the kitchen. This deserves Pride of Place in the living room! You'll be the only one in St. Louis with an entertainment center that's "47 inches of Modern Refrigeration." Modern refrigeration, mind you, not that inferior old-fashioned stuff!

So go for it. How many more times do you think something like this will turn up?

veg

Yall can just stop it now!

LOL! Rent another apartment is right -- to get anything in this one is bad enough...18 stairs to get to my door, then a 180 turn to get it inside the apartment. And "screw the kitchen" is right -- that 'fridge is the size of my kitchen.

Believe you me, I wish I could -- I'll probably never see one of these again! Whaahahaahah!!! Ah, what I wouldn't do to see for myself Foodarama's woNNNNNNNNderful features!

:-)

John

Well, okay, so hauling it up a flight of stairs isn't going to be a romp through the flowers. But it's not like you're going to have to do it very often. Heck, it might even be worth moving!

And think of what it could do for your social life! "Hey, baby--wanna come up and see my Foodarama?" "I don't want to brag, but I've got 47 inches of modern refrigeration..."

Unrefrigerated banana bin!
Unrefrigerated banana bin!
Unrefrigerated banana bin!

veg, who's apparently channeling Zippy this morning...

Yes baby show me your Food-a-rama. I thought you'd NEVER ask!!!

47 inches (even in CM) that has to be a pain to haul around!!!

Since when would a jock have A/C?

and WHO is Zippy? Is that otherwise known as Mr. Happy?

Veg is you name really Randy? LOL

Wow!!! Super cool-from the looks of it-see why local pickup only-better bring many strong freinds--or a forklift!!-and the truck with a liftgate!!
Like the idea of a "banana bin" use lots of those in my Vita-Mix drinks. How did that work??I just keep mine on top of the fridge.
