My sister is in the market for a long slotted toaster. The one she has had for a number of years has begun to burn everything. I don't think modern toasters are worth fixing unless they're Dualits or something comparable.

If anyone has a recommendation and/or a testimonial, feel free to share.

Breville

We have a Breville that we really like. We retired it when we bought our toaster oven/air fryer but still us it occasionally when we have people over and need a lot of toast at once. It does a great job on Bagels especially.

If she wants vintage...

I have a Sunbeam Thinline that I love! Example in link.

edit: Oops, I guess she's looking for a toaster where each slot is long... not a long thin toaster.

I've got a Kitchen Aid single slot toaster that Kelly gifted me well over a decade ago. It's white and he had gone to all black appliances at that point. Works great, but I do not believe KA makes that version any more.

Thanks for the input. I failed to mention that toaster size is an issue for storage. The toaster doesn't sit out on the counter, and the current one fits perfectly where she stores it. The ones I've seen on line seem to be thicker than the one she has now.

I also can't see paying $100 or more for an average toaster, and I know she won't go for that anyway, so I think she should base her decision on measurements and go from there. Toasters are made so cheaply today, even the major brands, so going for something around $50 tops should serve her for a decent period.

A lot of the long slot toasters these days are two slot, so as to get 4 slices into a 2 slice toaster. But there are still single slot ones around.

I don’t know that there’s much variability in quality between brands anymore, so you might just try doing an internet search and see what you can find with the features and color she’s looking for, and then check the dimensions to see how it compares to the existing one.

The existing one may just need a cleaning. Maybe blowing out with an air compressor to remove crumbs/crust buildup, and checking the terminals for any burned on deposits that might be making cycles too long.
