Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Hand-Wash System

I'm interested in the hand-wash...sorry, didn't catch that dial selection the first time, so it's hardly a gimmick. Duh.

Anyone - how does the hand-wash work, versus the delicate/knit cycle?

Thank you.

The hand wash was like a 3rd speed slow and the spin was the slower spin.  We used to used the other speeds too like for work gloves used the normal the lower water level and the small agitstor did not kick up the water too much.

Frigidaire dryer---

The best way to fix up the dryer is to get the WCI maintenance kit part # 5304461262, It includes the front glides, felt seal, rear bearing, belt, and idler pulley. All the normal wear parts for less then GE will charge for one of the parts.

Jeff inadvertently confirmed what I was going to say. The GE dryer you got with the washer is produced by Frigidaire. I'd keep the GE dryer with the black console that's next to the washer in the photos. A better dryer an d probably not as hoot a drying dryer. Nice washer. TOL for sure.

To deciphr wash selector (if interested)

(agitate/spin speed)
Regular (normal/normal)
Permanent Press (normal/slow)
wool/knits (slow/normal)
delicates (slow/sow)
Handwash (ex-slow/slow) most likely

On the knits/delicate wash cycle, if it's anything like my 1978 GE, it would agitate for about 3 minutes. Then pause and soak for about 2-3 minutes and then agitate for another 2 minutes.

the money shot shows what the splash guard looks like (without it being cut) as well as the non-discolored filter rim.
