Hi folks!

Looks like I'll be getting a little house of my own soon, and I'm going to need a washer! The dryer comes with the place but the washing machine has been pilfered. My Frogeye is still down a timer motor, so its out of the running as a daily. I have a Easy SprinDryer, but it won't fit in the laundry area, and I think I'm going to need something more automatic.

So I'm wondering if anyone out there in the NYC metro area has a spare machine they'd like to trade or sell. I'd let either of my machines now go, or be happy to pay a reasonable amount for a sturdy vintage machine.

I like a good mid-range Maytag, one of those skinny belt drive Kenmores (24" I think) or perhaps a filter-flow. The machine doesn't have to be portable. I have a station wagon that I'd be able to retrieve the machine, so long as its not more than a couple of hours from NYC.

Thanks in advance!

A set of Maytags in Avocado

Hey there Eric, There a set of nice Maytags in Avocadoin New York for only 50 bucks. I was going to pick them up but I don't have a truck or a Suv. I hope this helps. Good Luck. Regards, Hector

Nice!

Those are nice... but 200 miles away from NY Metro. I would have to make 2 trips, since I can only fit one machine in the wagon at a time... not sure the beast would be able to handle the stress.

I've used crazedlist to search craigslist around here and rarely does anything ever come up within 100 miles of here. Oh well. I'll keep lookin.

actually in Norwich...

my first wife was from Binghamton. Norwich is a good 30 minute drive north of the tri-city area. It's gonna' be expensive in terms of renting a truck, plus time, gas, tolls and all. It may be worth it to call these shipping companies for a quote - Highway Freight is GREAT to work with; Julian Bell - 800-363-9621. Cost me $340 to ship from VA to SC but I would do it all over again. Dryers like my '62 RCA 2-speed Whirlpool don't just show up every day. Robert (Unimatic) also recommends You Crate - 800/558-2580. I might have saved $100 if I went with them.
Good 'daily driver' wishes to you!
Robert

Hmm... I was hoping for something a little closer - within driving range. By the time i deal with getting these back to central NJ, I might as well buy new and save a mess of time. I'm going to look in PA Craigslist.

NYC is lousy for finding vintage white goods. :-(
