Looking for a fabric softener dispenser for my Filter Flo

I read that review about it not fitting with the filter pan in place. I think this dispenser required the use of the filter pan with the solid dish-like recess in the bottom near the shaft to give enough depth for the dispenser to fit down onto the shaft part of the pan. Sorry if this does not make sense.

I read that this particular dispenser model was designed for the Rimflo models, so it wasn’t designed to fit on the filter pan. The dispenser mounting hole isn’t big enough and it doesn’t have the correct “teeth” to fit on the pan. Look at the pictures of the underside, then look at a picture of the filter pan.

Alright so I got the model and serial number. Anyone know what year it’s from?

April 1986. I was off a little more than I thought. I have a model like this one where the styling is the same and it is a 1990 model.

86? Neat. That makes it 6 years older than my dads Maytag, if I’m correct in assuming it’s a 92 machine.

Oh, what does the WH mean at the end of the model number? I’ve been looking at part diagrams just to get an idea of what my machine looks like underneath and part prices and availability before I start working on it, and apparently the WH isn’t a part of the number. So what do they mean?

I would think the "WH" indicates the cabinet has a White finish.

Possibly. I didn’t know these things were made is any other color.

Perhaps it indicates that this model doesn’t have a mini basket option?

To the best of my knowledge, they were available in White, Almond, Harvest, and possibly Coffee at that time. I think Fresh Avocado was discontinued by then. Someone else such as Pulltostart may know for sure.

Yeah. It was due to it being a solid outer tub.

All perforated-basket machines have a solid outer tub.  GE's difference is that they didn't change the design from a fixed-outer tub to a suspended outer-tub when they switched from a solid to perforated inner drum.  The spin-drum must have room to oscillate within the outer tub ... thus all that extra space that must fill with water.

the hoses for the filter flo are backwards.....

probably why you didn't have a filter pan....it only pumped during spin!

either it was done on purpose, or someone changed the pump, and didn't pay attention to where the hoses went....

rotation:

clock wise to filter

counter clock wise to pump out

Re: Colors

As best I can tell, when this washer was built you could have any color you wanted as long as it was white or almond.  By this time GE had stopped touting color options.  The only reason they kept Fresh Avocado, and Coffee were for those folks who needed to color-match existing appliances.  They kept Harvest for a little longer but eventually dropped it.  After the world went crazy over Almond and it ran its course they brought out Bisque, for even more blandness.  A few years after this model they introduced the white-on-white models with the almond-on-almond counterpart.  Ranges and dishwashers had the added option of black (Onyx).

Lawrence, I forgot about GE's Sand and Silver colors. I'm thinking they were available around '84 or so, but discontinued a year or so later.

Perhaps it was only dishwasher fronts that remained available in Harvest Wheat and Coffee later into the 80's.
