Looks like I've started a collection.... 62 Kenmore question

When will Dave and Wes learn to not leave me alone....

So yesterday while they were at work, I went re-store-ing. While I was there I saw this gorgeous 1962 Kenmore 70 series dryer. It was so beautiful that I bought it... that makes the '64 Maytag 702 set, the '62 Kenmore, and looks like I'm picking up about a '53-ish "how dry I am" Westinghouse dryer today. Is it bad that my collection currently 10 hours or so from my house? Dave, your basement has become the "Classiccaprice Cincinnati Appliance Annex". I'll post pictures later.

Two Questions:

1) Anybody have a '62 Kenmore washer or '53 Laundromat they would be interested in getting rid of for a set? It doesn't hurt to ask right?

2) The '62 Kenmore dryer is belt drive blower Whirlpool. It's in amazing shape. Just for curiosity, where do I lubricate it?

WP Belt Drive Blower.

I am completely unfamiliar with these dryers. It runs beautifully and has a distinct noise from the blower that I've heard described here before. We ran a few loads of laundry through it and it performs well.

Is there anything in particular to look out for on these?

Looks like it was a busy day here on aw. I realize Dave and my questions may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Here are the ones above plus a few others that I've come up with.

1) Where are the best spots to lubricate the 1962 Kenmore 70 series dryer?
2) Is there anything we should be on the look out for on the machines? Especially the Kenmore and Westinghouse?
3) Anybody have an extra pre-06 series Maytag halo of heat door gasket they'd like to sell?
4) So, assuming that is an ozone light on the '62 Kenmore. What do I replace it with so that I can get the tub light to work? Do I have to put a new ozone bulb in it or would a C-9 work/fit in the spot. It looks a little tight for anything longer than that bulb.
5) Add a '62 70 series and a '53 L-6 to the dream list... I know I'm in a long line, but if anyone has one they'd like to part with or sees one for sale, please let me know!
6) Ooh, side note, I'm trying to come up with a plan to make a lint filter for the '53 Westinghouse. I'm thinking of getting creative with a cake pan to make something close to original (see reply 5 and 6 on RevvinKevin's post from 2012) But before I do, does anyone have one lying around? I've got the support for the back. I realize this is a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to ask right?

Also... **Paging Combo52** You mentioned the other day that there was a way to improve the efficiency of 70 series dryer pretty easily. I was trying to explain the concept to Dave. How does that work again?

I wouldn't worry much about the gasket. I acquired a DE750 dryer years ago that didn't have the 302448 gasket in place. It probably began deteriorating and was yanked off. I don't think this design is really affected much, if at all, by the missing gasket. There's no difference in performance or drying time of the 750 compared to any of my DE806's (same exact design) with perfect gaskets. I actually have a new gasket for the 750, but I haven't got around to installing it yet. It certainly isn't the end of the world if you never find it. They use to show up a couple of times a year on eBay, but I haven't seen one pop up in over a year now. Glad I followed my gut feelings when Whirlpool acquired Maytag and aggressively packratted rare Maytag parts back when they were still plentiful and cheap.

I've always liked the cycle dial on that Kenmore series---reminds me of a '58 Frigidaire. Hope your dryers soon find their mates!

Nifty dryer you've got there. The 62 Model 70 is not often seen, but always is a welcome sight as far as I am concerned. Hopefully you do find the matching washer to make a set.
