World Kitchen's decision to import French-made CorningWare Pyroceram appears to have struck a chord with consumers. In addition to Just White and Blue Cornflower, they're adding patterns that go with Corelle designs.

Remember, these are the same folks who once said American consumers don't give a rat's hairy heiny about Pyroceram and that we WANTED them to discontinue it and replace it with failure-prone stoneware that goes to pieces of you use it as freezer-to-oven-to-table cookware.

I bought the Just White set which came out a few weeks before the Blue Cornflower, and it appears to be the real thing. It's made in France though there's no reason the Corelle factory in Corning, New York couldn't produce it.

Maybe by NEXT year there will be a Heritage Series labeled "MADE IN CORNING, NEW YORK, USA"

Pyroceram never stopped being sold in Europe and parts of Asia. So by "re-introduction" they're talking about North America.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at WorldKitchen, and know whether they're serious about reestablishing Pyroceram here in America. Back in the day it was absolutely ubiquitous, I mean everyone and their grandmother sold it. This time around it looks like WorldKitchen is keeping their monopoly on retail sales. If that's true, this re-introduction is just a price gouge/money grab and will be very short-lived.

Don't worry so much about size. As long as it perform all the same functions and has the same utility and features, It'll do just fine.
 
It's Like...

...The grille badge on new Cadillacs, which is ginormous - branding for the insecure.

At least the new mega-cornflower will serve to tell vintage stuff from the reissue, which might be important to collectors in years to come.

French crap is OK though...
I absolutely LOVE my PYROCERAM,all of which was made before 1970. Time will tell if their new stuff REALLY holds up like we all know it should...
 
Pyrex?

Do you know if they have any plans to import the highly durable EU borosilicate Pyrex products vs. the explosion-prone ones of late?
 
I still have a full set of French white fluted pyroceram I got in the 90's. The glass lids have chipped bit from being on sliding shelving... but rarely use the stuff. Don't bake a lot, you see. Still, it looks nice.

Have never been that fond of the corn flower motif - it always looked cheap to me. But the larger version is a bit more attractive, at least in the pictures.
