Thought I would reach out to him about my Norge this past summer ...my brother lived in that area and I’ve past it before.. I don’t know the guy .. but whoever answered my phone call was extremely RUDE .. would not let me talk ?? Thank GOD FOR RICK he helped me get that Norge movin FOR FREE!! Why would anyone bother with him charges all that money 💰... way to much. This is a unique love of vintage machines and I would say the generous people on this site who go above and beyond helping and sharing the very beautiful stories ... who needs Lorain furniture.. I would not give him a second look 👀 very sad that he didn’t even respond to me? Oh well I know I have lots of help here for free !! Happy holidays and stay safe to all of you I am forever grateful for this site from the days of me picking up empty detergent boxes on my big wheel at age 4 to listening to all my families washers I know I am not the only one with this love.

When you call during business hours to chit chat about a 60 year old washing machine and don’t even have a clear question to ask, yes , I get a bit short with people. Not to sound like a greedy capitalist but I’m at work to make money. When you called (more than once perhaps?) I was BUSY. Like real paying customers in the store and the phone is lit up like a Christmas tree. Pardon me while I try and make a living instead of hearing your life story.

I’m sorry if that comes off as being disrespectful, but it’s you and 100 other people that call EVERY SINGLE DAY wanting to talk to me. I didn’t tell you to fuck off, and I didn’t hang up on you. I just kept on directing you to my website to schedule a consultation so I could speak with you during non business hours and maybe give you my undivided attention for a small $40 fee.

A lot of aw members call my shop all the time. I’m happy to speak with all of you. If you have a quick question and we can conclude our conversation in a few minutes that’s totally fine. If you have questions and you don’t want to pay for a consultation then just say it upfront: something like : “ hey I have a few questions to ask you but don’t need a consultation, are you busy ? If so, can I try you back later? Can I email you?” Just please be prepared with your questions. Write them down.

If I don’t have any customers in the shop I would be happy to chat. If my phone isn’t blowing up I’d be happy to talk. For free. Just understand that the moment my phone beeps or a customer walks in I’m going to cut you off and end the phone call within 3-5 seconds.

I’ve been in retail and dealing with customers for 20 years. I understand that there is no way to make everyone happy but I really try to. It still hurts my feelings when someone is disappointed with me or my company. Sorry.

Nothing pisses me off as a customer in a store than when the phone rings and whomever is assisting me leaves me standing there ignored while they answer questions from the caller. I'm not making this up as made up as it sounds just to say something here, but I have more than once actually gone over and hung the phone up on the salesperson and told them that I was here first with money in my hand and did they want to make a sale or not. I have no problem if they answer the phone and put the person to hold because they're with another customer or that they will call them back later, but to stand there and answer questions, ain't happening.

THE ANGER!!

I can just feel it! Perhaps you should bow out of AW for a while to wait on those hundreds of customers. You lucky boy you! Get some rest.

Why the fighting?

Who cares if Eugene’s business gets a plug? He’s posting videos showing how to rebuild machines at no charge to the public. Those can be invaluable to someone like me when I’ve got a machine torn apart and I’m stuck on something I’m not sure about.

I’ve always appreciated this group and this website. It’s literally shaped my life. What I hate about it is all of the infighting. How stupid is that?

A fellow 806er...

FIGHT??

I don't want to fight,I just want to separate helping from hawking.I believe professional businesses' making money off the back of AW should maybe give some perks to members. I don't feel it's fair to upload pictures ,tutorials and advice out of friendship just for some well to do appliance professional to charge fees because he is too busy to be bothered. You all can hate me all you wish but I feel strongly on this.Eugene getting a plug?? Sounds like he does not need one.Again, Can anyone join AW under -(Franks vintage washer repair)- and post every other day with his information ?? Would that be permissible ? You all OK with that?

All Eugene is doing is showing you how to repair or rebuild machines and isn’t charging the public like Jon/jons1077 mentioned. The videos Eugene uploaded of the Whirlpool and Kenmore belt drive washers he refurbished will certainly show people how to make repairs to their own Whirlpool or Kenmore belt driven machines and in fact I’ll do the same repairs to my ‘63 Whirlpool as he did to the 1978 Kenmore 70 series and 1981 Whirlpool belt drive washer back in 2018 : )

A picture of the 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII I plan on doing a refurbishment on

Guess I have to spell it out---So the 40 buck advice charge is waived if a proven premium paid AW member wishes to speak with Eugene??

@petek

This is exactly how I run my business. If I’m with a customer, the phone does not get answered. I will not disrespect a customer in my shop by not giving them my undivided attention. There are appropriate times to give the customer some time to think or decide, at which time I’ll let them know I’ll give them a minute to mull it over and I’ll grab the phone.

Aren't we all here for the companionship?

I know I can do this all on my own, but choose not to. And I know I learn a little bit from everyone here even newbies to the hobby- so that must be true for you the reader as well. So why all the anger out of nowhere? Anger is used too much these days it's time to end. If you are not happy the Universe is a big big place, step aside. If you have a point to make make it nicely.

I have not dealt directly with : Eugene at

But I enjoy his work, and believe me people even small videos are a lot of work to get out there! : So his videos are an act of love!

I have bought a few machines from him , although a bit fly by night his operation is semi-stable. There is a lot of machines coming and going and disappearing when you least expect it. Be careful what he pushes on you, you could get stuck reworking the same Combo for oh 30+ years??

Four things

Seriously, can't we save the drama for the Collectors' Club Which Must Not Be Named and keep the enjoyment for ours?

1) Personal vendettas (and this clearly, clearly is one) are for The Collectors' Club which must not be Named, not here!

2) Eugene does great work, I love his videos and I learn from him.

3) I, too, am self-employed. I'm generous with my knowledge, such as it is, but Eugene is cheap compared to me when it comes to telephone consultations - one should be thankful to have such an outstanding resource!

4) Robert has spoken, the matter is ended.

Jon Jetcone, I don't think you've ever made me laugh as hard as I did at that. Mother Superior John Combination Washer Dryer Le Fevre is becoming shadier and flightier by the day. I'm trying to get help on fixing a GM Agitub, dying for the Syncho-swing, and he offers me A FRANKLIN version, A FRANKLIN !!!!! Are you kidding me. Does he even listen. I'm taking my business to Eugene tomorrow, LOL.

This is not the time to point out anyone’s short comings, or how someone runs there business. We all live in different parts of the universe and come from different backgrounds. I have always received nothing but positive responses and advice from everyone on here. I can’t understand why someone would come on here and spread anger for no reason it’s not fair, when someone is generous enough to make videos and share there machines with us. This world is not free and Eugene is in a business to make money and if you don’t like that then take your business elsewhere.

Mickeyd

A Franklin?? Indeed, Well I never got to play with one of those, better put my mask on and head south ! However the only way a Franklin part is ever gonna mate up with a GM Agitub is with the use of a very large 5 pound persuader ( see hammer).

Mickeyd I do know for a fact he was hoarding parts off a GM Agitub at the Farm so they are somewhere in Beltsville for sure.

Nothing new to add except more love for Eugene, hope the negativity from one doesn't stop the YT vids or your helpful posts here on the board.

It can be difficult to find the services and parts you need, a basic google search isn't always helpful when you have such specific details as you do when dealing with machines that are more or less Dinosaurs to the current consumer base. The more posts with contact links to contracted repair persons or enthusiasts that collect enough to re-sell parts and machines is a good thing I think. It keeps the community thriving on top of what this forum already does in general with it's invaluable knowledge base and general cheerleader attitude towards members, new and old, that post their machines and projects.

Jetcone ~

Mother Superior John Combination Washer Dryer Le Fevre said that he's looking for some sort of Dodge Van that costs $25,000, and if I could help with that he would give me the fully operational GM Frigi Agitub Skinny-Mini he has on the premises at the Museum. He sure knows how to drive a hard bargain. I intend to trick him with S&H Green Stamp books and enlarged Monopoly Money, while distracting him with long conversations about his favorite topic--SEX !!! LOL.
