No it was not a statement, it was me thinking that since I can see the basket  toward the left side.

So is that normal?
The description states full working order, just a funny thing  that I understand is that the washer have mounted wheels....maybe is my lack of german....

When it comes to shipping. EBay and similar sellers both in and outside of Germany either won't ship things out of it or won't send things to the place.

IIRC it has something to do with the high cost of sending anything that won't fit DHL's set post rates for certain boxes (weight and size limits),and various taxes one must pay for items sent into the country or things one wishes to take out. Again IIRC even household items like appliances are subject to some sort of tax if one wants to shift them about.

Again this is all off the top of one's head but do know the few times one has had items sent from Germany that were eBay purchases the shipping was dear. Once won a very larg box of vintage waschpulver (IIRC it was a barrel of Ariel) and was let out of the auction by the seller after he got a shipping quote of >150 euros to send the thing to the States.

here we have had this problem over and over again.

There are two options:

1) Freight company in Frankfurt -> train to Italy -> Italian freight company to your home.

That will be the cheapest, but it will take the longest and you have to arrange and plan everything yourself.

(Look for "Bahnfracht" = railway freight on DB (Deutsche Bahn, http://www.bahn.de). Things will be picked up from Frankfurt freight train center and shipped to Italy, to your nearest freight station.). Pick up from their home to Frankfurt freight center must be arranged with a local freight company, same thing at your place.).

2) ask Iloxx corporation (not as cheap as no.1 but hassle-free)

Iloxx is specialized in transporting unusually big or heavy items to unusual locations. Ask them for a quote.

They basically do the same job, but you don't have to care about it.

And finally it might even be cheaper to make a weekend-trip here in a Volkswagen van or similar and pick up the machines yourself.

Well ok, Frankfurt is less than 1 hour away from me and I had been living there for more than 7 years.

It is typical for those ads (worldwide) that people wouldn't even move a pinkie when it comes to sending stuff abroad.

Maybe I can convince them by re-imitating the Frankfurt dialect ;-)

But everything else has to be calculated and planned carefully, so please think it over.
Willing to help here, but stay realistic (the costs cannot be talked away).

Launderess, perfectly true what you say. But getting stuff from the US is just as troublesome.

A very friendly member of vacuumland was offering a nice Hoover to me for a perfect price. But mail services there probably blew that deal by wanting some 156,- dollars for a transport to here.
Aren't there any better logistic services than the regular (and obviously overpriced) postal services?
Who knows of more and better, of more unusual and "collector friendly" companies?

Thank you so much Joe for the offer if pick it up,I likely will need your help, thank you so much, still not hearing from them, wrote two times but no reply...might you do the favor to call them for me? Just to see if this is still  available?  I cannot speak german so good as you  already know.
Regarding shipping,  I was thinking to rely again on hands of Fedex which is the courrier with the most cheap rates available,  their economy rate can beat anyone, DHL included ( I almost hate like DHL but will talk later in response to Launderess)  Fedex is the same courrier used to have shipped the Servis Mk2 from UK 2 months ago,   I  hope this shipping will not end like my Servis that had knob destroyed but a good tying to  pallet  this time and a  good wrapping should avoid the problem as long as it does not have knobs to be destroyed on it's sides nor delicate things.

I already got a quote with Fedex, everything will cost about  340 euros (machine price included), shipping cost is of 294 euros,  not a Crazy cost at all considering is the average price for an used american machine over here , I'm interested in the washer only as long as the dryer is electric and I will  not use electric dryers anymore.
I will attach a screen shot of the quote, with an aproximation of 90 kg and measures I can read in the descr.

Since the age of jets replace ocean liners for crossing the Atlantic and most every where else overseas for that matter, nearly a majority of postal,UPS, Fedex or whatever shipping goes that route. While this is fine for letters, parcels and small packages after a certain weight to size dimenson of the box things either become very expensive or simply cannot be shipped.

IIRC DHL (Germany post) is about 7kg (25kg?)or something regardless of if one is using their boxes or one's own.

There are shipping companies including IIRC UPS that still use ships, but then you are usually speaking about freight rates which is a whole other ball game.

Up until what? The 1960's or so when persons moved house overseas via ship they often brought all manner and sort of large appliances with them. This is the reason one finds "odd" German or other appliances in the United States that never were sold here. Today the only persons able to do this because of cost are those moving house on someone else's money such as military or employer transfers. Even then there *might* be some restrictions.

US embassy staff and military being sent on overseas postings are advised to leave heavy household appliances here and purchase whatever is required upon arrival. Due to the voltage differences this often makes sense, though some still do bring things back and forth and run them off converters.

Am told one of the best places to find appliances is near any military base as servicemen unload stuff they cannot or should not take back to the states.

Having skimmed through all this: I will call them tomorrow and find out if the set is still available. Next point on the list will be whether it is a 220v/50 hz unit just as they used to have them around the Frankfurt area during the 80s and 90s. Third step will be to find out where they are willing to ship to.

Starting up from there we might figure out how to get the units down south. We might even be getting them here parked next to my motorbike (safe for transport but nothing shipped yet). But bear with me, it all depends on the seller's reply.

Actually, not for me, well I'm obviously closer than USA  to Germany and I'm into EC , never a problem buying "waschpulver" or any thing   from ebay Germany,  BTW as we're in the speech I give you a suggestion if happens  to do not absolutely  buy Max powder and Maxxi powder from ebay in Germany, they're all about filler and soda.....and liquid is just thick water!
Anyway always had most of the orders  from Germany arrived with DHL, but also Poste Italiane and Bartolini courrier, never  a problem.
But I hate DHL for Overseas services  and try to avoid it when I can, and I believe this is you case Launderess right?

 While DHL may be acceptable for Inside Europe shipping is terrible for overseas shipping though, and I know this so  well.
DHL have  of the highest shipping fees for overseas and also looks like they try to get too smart about asking overcharged customs fees and duties!
Also their customs brockerage fees are of the highest ones and they always require them, while indeed for example  Fedex just require them  over the  22 euros of declared value,.,,and ask a silly amount for it.

Well, as I was saying  it is happened more than one time to receive outrageously overcharged customs fees to pay from DHL shippings  from USA, overcharged because this wasn't what I really had to pay second Italian customs fees chart and according to the Italian customs agency...  and this every damn time!

I have so reason to believe this is a rip off made on purpose to get the $$$$ , remain the fact that every time I had to fight so much to have  the difference back after months and thousands calls and mails,  DHL  customer service in Italy  is something terrible, very rude, I promised myself to avoid  it in future, unfortunately some US shops keeps using DHL  only for shipping to Europe.

  But there is much worse at this world  and  in Europe and are called Poste Italiane (Italian Postal service) and SDA (private courrier of Poste Italiane)...probably the worse of the entire planet Hearth.

Anyway, for  my shipping to USA  I always use Fedex, also used it for detergent  exchanges with Carl,  we both Used Fedex,  you can ask him,  I cannot  ask better nor I can find better or cheaper in Italy,  also comparing  the USPS quotes USA to Italy   with  the economy rate of Fedex Italy to USA  what I get are about the same quotes, for certain weights  Fedex is even cheaper and  with the huge  difference that service 10 times quicker,  also both me and receivers never had to pay more than what was  the right amount due  for customs  fees and  brockerage, also among me and Carl  we both  never had to pay anything as long as they were  gifts to each other (I mean +10kg boxes full of powders) , also never had to pay for stuff sent from my Uncles in US.
BTW, Carl, when next swap? I saved for you a bag of Spanish dixan and perborate.

Launderess, what I say is that you might  want to try  using Fedex  economy rate too for your next purchases from Germany, if it works from  Italy I guess it will work as good from  Germany also.....

Overseas shipping really reached unbelievable costs, for many reasons, USPS and USA is still way more economical than much of the European Postal services, Royal Mail do have the better prices I've seen in this continent and an impeccable service.
A part Fedex I don't think there're shippers more economical, if you find them let me know.

All I can think about right now for your solution about the vacuum Joe is  to put it on sale in some american website  and you purchase it through  "my american shipper" a service that allow you to purchase and have shipped stuff internationally from sellers shipping only to USA addresses, this service offers very interesting prices about shipping cause of the huge amount of packs they move, that would be a solution, anyway I see lots of vacuums on ebay and the higher shipping I've seen was not over 80$ for Italy, possible they change that much to Germany?

A huge box of about 12 kg ships to Germany for 87$ with priority if you buy stamp online.

 
Shipping To USA From Overseas

Normally get my EU detergent fixes from France which has slightly better postal rates and is no where near as fussy about custom fees as DHL (German post). Recently also had some Persil Hygiene Spüler sent from Belgium and even there shipping wasn't *that* bad.

To some extent can understand the problems of national postal services as they are subject to the whims and demands of commercial airlines. Fedex and UPS along with other private shippers do have their own fleet of planes but IIRC for some deliveries whole or part goes through a local postal service.

Many eBay shippers on this side of the pond simply will not ship to Germany. For their part Germans selling things on eBay or elsewhere won't ship either. It's local pick-up or perhaps work out your own arrangements but again if you want something larger than a bread box, forget it. *LOL*

Oh the detergent in question was a vintage huge barrel of Ariel from the days of "Clementine" Am guessing it was so heavy as the soap is laden with washing soda. Seller was nice enough to let me out of the auction without dinging my eBay feedback, so that's me for you.

Being as all this may have found eBay sellers in Germany willing to ship large appliances. I had my Kaltmangel shipped from there. It arrived damaged but that is another story,(damn fool seller/shipper poorly packed the thing). Also awhile back when that nice minty Miele twintub was on offer asked the seller for a shipping quote to the USA, which he provided. Yes, it was dear, very dear but for something that rare in interesting would have been worth a go. However memories of my damaged Kaltmangel were too fresh to get me out on that limb again. *LOL*

Alex, no I didn't give up, just waiting for belt to arrive here to assemble everything, also the new door panel arrived (the one I fainted on).  I  purchased rollers, belt and hi-limit  thermostat  separately from various sellers on  ebay  the hi-limit thermostat has been the worse ebay transaction of my life.
  Rollers,  hi-limit thermostat and coils already arrived, next step if new coils will not work will be trying to replace the cycling thermostat that looks in good condition though (I found a 240 volt 50hz from a webiste, unfortunately  they ask 35$ to ship, cost for new one from Speed Queen dealers in Italy  is of 50euros so purchasing it from US I would save anyway), if that will not work at that point I will probably give up, as it it will means that is the valve assembly that got bad, and that one is really expensive that will be more economical just getting a new one ( I was thinking about a White Knight from UK, but of course I would prefer to keep the SQ)....I may try to remove it and bring it into gas heater shop  or SQ dealer to see if they can help at last.

I have had to get somethings taken care of this month.I agree with you any time you can use Fed Ex i would never had a problem with them sometimes they just look crazy when i tell them what I am going to ship but that is fine I am.I am getting together somethings for you I have dryer sheets and I will start looking for store brand detergents as that is what you wanted if there is a change just let me know.The only issue I have encountered with Fed Ex is when you ship be sure that you mke sure that they know it is a gift because the youn lady did not understand I almost had to pay a customs fee.I will e-mail you through here soon. I I have always told you if you need something here from the US if I can help then just let me know I will do what I can.Carl Oh by the way I think that I can get the BIG BUCKETS of Sears detergent in West Memphis Sears if you want to pay the cost of having it shipped then let me know and I will see if I can get it still I bought 3 of then last year 2 for a friend and 1 for me I love the buckets.
 
Thank you again Carl, I gotta admit that  if I buy this machine I will probably <span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class="hps">"scrape the bottom</span> <span class="hps">of the piggy bank" so I think I will have money destinated for a detergent exchange  just around end of March, hope it is fine for you.
Why they look crazy at you when you ship laundry detergent? Probably they still wash their clothes with the ash.....LOL
Of course I will make sure they will understand that is a gift as always, I always put in the proforma invoice the word gift and in the comments above, will write it bigger.
Thank you for looking for some store brands and particular brands, also please look if you can find some  Ajax powder and please look if you can find the Arcoiris again both the Lavender and green scent.
I gotta admit I'm not particularly interested in the Ultra plus anymore, still remembering my last bad experience with Sears and I do not want to be their customer anymore, both directly and indirectly.

No need to frown: While things will still be expensive, I could find another shipping service that might be able to save you some bucks. Also: Packaging might be a trifle bit cheaper than we thought, not much though, but every penny counts.
