Hey Fellas (and ladies),

I was thinking about it and had a question for all of you in a serious relationship. How did you meet the person who love, or at least puts up with, our hobby? Just wondering.

My partner and I met 25 years ago this past New Years day. I had been out celebrating with two close friends who back at that time had probably been together at least 25 years. Crashed at their place after the festivities etc and the following day (jan 1) we spent nursing hangovers etc. I went for nap in the early afternoon and when I got up an hour or so later they were in the kitchen having coffee with this friend of theirs who'd popped in for a visit and intro'd me to him. The rest as they say is history. Funny thing is, we have so very little in common, never did and still don't LOL

I forgot to mention.. The two friends who's house we met had were still together up until one died a couple of years ago of altzheimers. They'd been together at least 50 yrs by then. And talk about opposites attracting, they always fought like cats and dogs, argued non stop, just like us LOL
Same thing with my still closest friend he and his partner would have been together now about 40 years but his partner also died a couple of years ago of cancer.. You never saw such arguing, fighting etc with them as well.
In fact every couple I know who's lasted all argue like crazy, don't do lots of stuff together, completely the opposite of what most people would think.

Tony and Me...

Tony and I met back in January 2005. I decided to go out to a local hangout for a drink to celebrate my offer being accepted on my condo that I wanted to purchase. (Back then the market was really hot so it was I was lucky to have an offer accepted anywhere!) This particular place is a gay establishment but, this particular night, was overcrowded with rowdy, drunk, straight people. Not the good kind...really trashy crowd...no offense. I had my one drink and was ready to leave after only half an hour but noticed a handsome guy walking by several times whom I'd never seen before. (I used to go to this place every Sunday so I pretty much knew everyone there.)

Anyways, the place was too much for me so I was going to hit the restroom real quick and slip out of there. As I went into the restroom, another stranger decided to stop me real quick and demanded I meet his friend. He was insisting so much to the point that he followed me into the restroom! ARGHHH!!! He finally let me use the facility ALONE with the promise that I would meet his friend before leaving.

Upon exiting I was immediately greeted by the annoying guy and the handsome stranger whom he called his friend, Tony. He pushed us together and said "TALK!". Great... I think we both rolled our eyes at him and began this strange conversation. We talked for quite a while just the two of us and really seemed to hit it off. A few days later we're having dinner together and haven't stopped since. 3 1/2 years later I couldn't be happier for having someone creepy follow me into a restroom!

By the way, as luck would have it, I didn't recognize Tony because he had just moved here THAT DAY from Chicago. He hadn't even unpacked his car yet. Girlfriend needed a drink too!!! :-)

Charles and I

My story makes me sound... you know... a bit easy. I'm really not!!

I was dating this guy called Charles, and didn't really like him. Through him i met Nick. We became friends and hit a club one night. After we got out we headed down to meet his flatmate. His flatmate was Charles! I thought "hey, he's nice!" and spoke to him and stuff and we hit it off. In their flat we played Singstar and got more drunk and then Charles headed off to bed. Nothing happened that night. I ended up sharing a bed with Nick haha. Didn't see Charles the next day because he was giving his friend a lift to the airport.

Two weeks later, Charles the first still not taking the hint, Nick, Charles and I all hit the gay club and Charles and I ignored Nick for the rest of the night! 18 months later were living together with two cats. He puts up with my obsessions and I do with his. I even got him to understand why a Bosch dishwasher is worth the money!

Fuzzy & I...

We met courtesy of that bastion of good taste, "Gaydar", in 2004. Arranged to meet a few days later and I've been driving him mad ever since!

We don't have much in common, but seem to get on fine together (I love driving him mad!). Wouldn't give him up for the world.

statistics

my wife and I met, 24 years ago, in a statistics class. What's the probability of that?

Met my wife in Jr. High in 1962 married in 1966 and the rest is history. 42 years next month.

Met my partner through another washing machine site!

I had aquired a Hoover Twin Tub model 5004 (1977) off my gran. (I really wanted the 5004 so I purchased her a T5090 Hoover twin tub so I could have the 5004).
Anyway within a few times of using it the Thermostat blew up. I didn't know what to do or how to fix it. I went onto the internet and found a Yahoo group called "Twin Tub Emporium".
I asked for any help and started speaking to a guy called Andrew who helped me the best he could. The machine needed a new thermostat and he had a spare one. He flew 400 miles down to Luton from Edinburgh and fitted it for me! That was it as they say!
I now live inbetween Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Eharmony

Yes, I know they don't do gay couples but I met Helen on EHarmony. I remember being so nervous about "coming out of the laundry closet", but she said "Everyone has to have a hobby" and accepted me for who I am.
