Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Wow Ross that machine is just MINT to say the least! 1956 thru 1960 Kenmore washers and dryers have such a fun vintage style. Congrats and enjoy!

What a beauty! And apparently a rare model. As a kid I remember a neighbor having what I think was the 58 version of this same 59 model. The control dial was the same gold knob with the "K" in the center and had the normal & delicate cycles only instead of black & gold it had yellow on the normal cycle & an aqua for the delicate.

Lint Filter

I remember my Mom's Kenmore in the early 60's having that same lint filter. It was fun to watch but hell to clean lol.

LOL

Yes, Scott, it has that mystical filter cartridge that I'll need to find someday for my '61...

Of course, if I just fold a pair of pantyhose in there and stick in a drywall screw, it might just work...

*gak* :-D

Lint cartridge drama

That lint filter is not the world's most difficult to clean; depending on the lint composition and whether you were a good boy and used fabric softener (okay, that's open to debate, but...), you can kind of sling it and get the lint off.

Of course, when you pull the cartridge out and it "blops" a goober of lint on your freshly washed laundry (due to the fact that it is just a looped screen behind that chrome insert, and filters from all sides), that can wreck your day...

...but it still sucks eighty percent less than the bed-o-nails filter on my 1-18... :-|

Ross

You are one lucky guy! Where do you find all these marvelous toys? Thanks for the pics!

1959 Kenmore

Hi guys. Roger, Nate, and myself decided to visit a local used appliance dealer. Pulled up in my truck and right there was the Kenmore. I could not believe it. Thought it was a mirage.
Not a scratch nor an ounce of rust. I think machine was not used much. But I am the kiss of death for timers and after a few loads, timer stopped working. Mechanic who takes care of my machines removed timer and sent it out to be re-built. He is also replacing a few old hoses and doughnut washer. By the time I return from the convention, Kenmore should be back in my garage and ready for action. It is a great machine and lots of fun.

Guys it looks like you are all having so much fun!! It is just great that you have found each other. Ross that is a beautiful Kenmore. Thanks Nate for posting the fun story with the pictures. Terry
