Thor automagic august 2010

Hi paul and all,Happy 2011.My find of 2010 was a Thor Automagic. It worked well at first but it,s downfall was a badly rusted tub base, especialy just above the motor which got wet and burned out.So that was the end of that.It appears that seeing other Thors manufactured elsewhere that they were built with a vitreous enameled outer tub, whereas our english built machines only had painted tubs.Im used to moving washers but i havent encounterd such a heavy washer before ,it felt like it bolted to floor.I dont have any pictures of the washer but i did keep the instruction book and ilustrated parts list with prices. So if anybody wants an instruction book and parts list going free to a good home will only cost you postage let us know. Was a fun machine whilst it lasted and had a very powerful long stroke agitation.2011 is looking good already, spotted on ebay for january Zanussi Wascraft 929.Philco Bendix home laundry center.Electra microtronic 900 A.K A. Servis quartz and just for Paul a Hotpoint Microtronic that looks prety good and only in Leicester.Have tried to post some pictures of the Thor literiture. All have good new year regards Nige.

Not really "new" this year except for the Radarange, but the garage got a makeover and we have two dishwashers installed and ready for duty. A huge shout-out to Cory for sending the panel to the RR-10 making it a contributing member of the collection again and failing to mention Ben's assistance with numerous repairs and electrical magic spells would be a massive blunder! The Maytag combo lives again, the Marantz 2270 receiver plays and of course, the Power Surge we've all been working on for a couple of years!

The Bendix 7133 was the 1st machine I bought when I moved into my first flat. It was second hand.....unfortunately it developed a serious leak via the thermostat seal after 3months...I replaced the seal but wired up the thermostat incorrectly and the machine blew causing the machine to behave strangely. It would fill, spin, drain, tumble, fill then pump out. Entertaining to watch but not practical for washing clothes....it went back to the second hand appliance store I got it from.

your hoover and my zanussi are the same machine!!!

No surprises there. The first Hoover dishwashers were manufactured by Zanussi. I believe the second series were manufactured in the UK, but that would be mid 1970s. I had a machine like Paul's from 1988 until around 1995 as my "daily driver" but I did not like it much, its did not seem as good as the Philips which i had before or the Indesit I had after.

The Hoover super-jet, I miss mine, with that quirky rotating basket, great clouds of steam from the air vent in the front, sham it just rusted to nothing.

Hoover T5054 Hoovermatic De Luxe ...

Does the one YOU are picturing have the "agitator" (see attached pic below) with the filter try atop of it whereby the water flows over it to clean out LINT? I/m in Ontario CANADA and had one, 1971 to 1980, that I sold due to having less time to be so interactive with after my son was born. DO you know anywhere in CANADA I could get another? Every time I search, I only get sites for UK that don't ship to Canada. Mine was labelled KENMORE, which is /was a SEARs brand, which was a subsisidurry of the now defunct, "Simpsons" / "Simpson Sears". My "x" used to work there

The attached pic is the closest I've found that was like mine; however, mine was the original "Avocado Green" colour. I also had the apartment-size Hoover clothes dryer, which was also green, but they didn't match each other – Thanks
