I didn't watch any of season one, but I'm now watching season two on VOD. What year is this supposed to be taking place? I saw the episode with the Electrolux, and I have been trying to identify the appliances but I haven't had much luck.

I did notice that the typewriters are not correct for the 60's with the exception of a couple of IBM typebar model C's. Selectric I's came out in 1961, and Selectric II's came out in the 70's.

Boy they sure like to drink and smoke a lot during work hours.

Season 2 has episodes that show and Easter Sunday church program from 1962. and one of the season 2 episodes has the cuban missile crisis occuring September 1962.

The Cuban Missle Crisis took place in OCTOBER 1962

The first season of Mad Men took place in 1960-61
The second season took place in 1961-62
and this years season is going to take place in 1962-63

In season 4 I am sure they will be dealing with the Kennedy Assassination...PAT COFFEY

Mad Men is my guilty pleasure

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Selectrics. There are a lot of small anachronisms(like White people ordering "Mussels in Garlic sauce" in the early sixties restaurant. Never would have happened)in what I think is overall a spectacular show. I think we have to chalk these up to artistic liscense.

In the episodes I've watched of season two, I've heard Kennedy's name mentioned, and a ticker tape parade for John Glen, and jet liner crashing in in LA (don't know if that was real or not). I have to hurry up and watch the rest of season two season three starts August 16.

Speaking of guilty pleasures, any one into True Blood and Hung?
