I thought it was funny that they used an American washing machine for testing, when they don't "formally" sell Persil in the USA. Now that they own Dial, it would be nice if they would begin selling Persil in regular stores, so perhaps I could buy a large box of Persil for about $20.00, as opposed to $75.00!!!

Purex

products here in the US are made by Henkel. I actually just bought some Purex Mountain Breeze fabric softener, a gallon for about $5. I says it does 40 loads and since I have a front loader, I use half the amount, so I should get about 80 loads. Not too bad. I was in the market for something new since all the fabric softeners are so overpowering in smell. Downy and all the rest just stink to high heaven. I tried the yellow Purex with Renuzit and that was awful. I could smell it on my pants at work all day and it made me sick and gave me a headache. I couldn't wait to get home and take my pants off! This Mountain Breeze is really nice. Has sort of an odd...rose type smell, but by the time the close are either dry from dryer or hung on the line, the sent dissipates and the clothes just smell clean. I couldn't be happier! Amazing considering it's a Purex product! LOL. I went right back to the store and bought 5 more gallons. - Oh, plus, I went online to purex and said I wasn't happy with the yellow stuff and Henkel sent me a bunch of coupons and a refund check.

I hate strong scents on my laundry. I tend to stick to Comfort Pure (Unilever). It has very little smell and is dermatologically tested / allergy tested etc.

I think Ariel has toned down the overpowering scent. I've noticed it's smelling less like air freshener recently.

Persil (Unilever) isn't too bad. Although their new 'just washed feeling' scents are quite strong too. They've started to use micro-capsules in the formulation which release scents constantly for a long period of time.

The same technology is used in Comfort with their 'do the moves' campaigns ... releases bursts of freshness every time you move!

That Crème softener is sooo thick! I have to use hot water to flush it from the softener dispenser (Electrolux FL).

They've ditched Comfort Creme in the UK now, the Naturals range replaced it.

We sure wish they would sell Persil here in the US. It's what we use the most, we love the rather subtle scents it has. We especially like the smell an item has after being washed in Persin and then hung outside to dry. Just fantastic.
We also like the Vernel "Blue Sky" softener, even though we only use a softener on towels every blue moon or so. Yes we know that a softner makes towels less absorbent, but Vernel isn't too bad for this use.

Have you guys tried your local high-end appliance dealers? Here in Sacramento, we have a place and they sell Persil products. The big boxes of detergent, gels, vernel(sp?)etc.

If only they would carry Ariel!

Henkel makes Mexican detergent Viva. They bought Viva
from Colgate Palmolive 5 or 6 years ago.

Henkel also bought Dial a few years ago, which makes Purex. That is about as bottom-of-the-line you can go as far as Detergents are concerned. I wish they would do more here to increase market share, especially now that Unilever is backing out of the market.
