I found this on CL while visiting STL. I think it is about 1986 or 1987, which would be about 20 plus years old. It is 2 Speed. I cleaned it up and put it on youtube. Here are some shots.

If I remember right that wash basket is not porcelain but rather a plastic coated steel basket. They called it Duralon I think. I have the lit somewhere for this washer. It was before they went to an all plastic washbasket. Its looks like its in great shape for the age. These tubs used to peel much like the GE and Frigidaire dishwasher tanks with Plastisol as they aged and got used.

Found Your Youtube Demo

I happened to spot your Magic Chef Washer, the 20 pound capacity you described earlier. Cool video. Thanks for letting us know about this.--Laundry Shark

Got that exact same machine in a house I'm redoing. Only problem is that it's a ONE speed, the 2 high speed cycles don't work. Haven't been ambitious enough to look and see what the problem might be.

I need to get it out soon, don't know if it's are worth keeping or even worth putting up for sale.

Love the slow wide strokes with the straight-vane, makes for some really mesmerizing wash-action!

BTW,
I recently found the matching dryer. It came with an older model washer. I'll post pics once I have cleaned them up.

Agitator Out

The screw on the top luckily came off with out too much work. I did alot of cleaning on the post and inside the agitator.

I have this washer in my house now and do 2-3 loads of wash a day. The belt on the bottom keeps coming off in the wash cycle (agitate) I can keep putting it on but then goes off balance and comes off again. Seems to get unbalanced alot. I was wondering if i should just replace the belt as mabe its just stretched or get a new machine. I love that this is large capicty.

Replace the belt Save the machine

Save it. A belt should be very inexpensive. If you have gone this long without any leaks, it is a keeper. Plus I love the capacity, it is the only machine that I can wash a queen comforter in.
