At an estate sale today, I saw a Magic Chef range. It was white with a woodgrain control panel and black glass door. It had the solid elements and a digital clock electronic. I had never seen a Magic Chef that was this fancy, most tended to be very basic ranges in the 80s, which this one appeared to be from. It also had a stainless steel Nutone hood over it that may have been 70s. The fridge was a white Whirlpool side by side, a very new GE dishwasher and the washer and dryer were Whirlpools from the 90s.

Solid elements are HORRID--in my opinion.

I've used stoves with them before. They are slower than ceramic (I have also used--) cooktops to heat up, and slower to cool down. Forget trying to stir fry on one.

Solid elements make coil elements (also used) look like gas/induction.

I do not like solid elements. I don't like standard ceramic elements. I have not yet used, but might like induction. "Might like" being the key phrase.

Today, I made lunch for Linn and me at Linn's house. Compared to the ceramic Tappan she had until her tenant forgot his tea water, her new coil top GE is impressive, for an electric.

Just mi dos centavos.
