We are finally getting back to making cooking videos now that the kitchen studio is pretty much completed. Always craving comfort foods and things that remind us of mom's cooking, we made a batch of beef Stroganoff.

Welcome back- great kitchen!
I love making beef stroganoff- Worcestershire and nutmeg are musts! I noted your use of nutmeg- "not much... just in the background... you won't even kinda know it's there." But I bet you'd catch something was missing if it wasn't there!
We're having a couple of folks over tomorrow and it was going to be a pot roast meal. Maybe beef stroganoff instead!

Yay Kevin & Ralph!!! So nice!! Kevin, what brand is the little 2-burner cooktop? I didn't notice that when you did the "tour" video.
Yay! You're back to making videos! Boy did I miss them. New kitchen looks great. Love the lamp over the range.
Recipe looks super yummy! I can only rarely eat things like this as they are high in saturated fat, since I have heart issues.
The light shade reminds me of the one that was in our kitchen when we moved in back in 1957. It wasn't bright enough, so was replaced by a circline fluorescent not long after. The old fixture stayed on the basement shelf for many years, but I think we eventually sold it at one of our yard sales.

Kevin the Beef stroganoff looks like it would be great! My mother used to make that dish from time to time, and it was always a family favorite. Love the new kitchen as well! I couldn't help noticing the red 1950's kitchen table and chairs. Per chance, did you purchase the set from the Antique Barn, in Allen Michigan? I reason I ask is that I sold one identical to yours when I was selling there, a couple years ago. Wondered if it could be the same set.

The only beef stroganoff I've had was of the Hamburger Helper variety (as a finicky eater, I loved any Hamburger Helper meal growing up!) or the stroganoff served at the school. I've kind of forgotten about stroganoff -- it's not my absolute favorite but I did like it. Maybe I shall try the recipe and be introduced to what looks like a really good version of stroganoff!

There's a much easier way to make it... using the pressure cooker.
Just toss everything in (except the mushrooms and cream) set the timer for 25 minutes. DONE.
Then just add the mushrooms and cream.
I actually made it saturday night and nothing was left.

although there are many variations.....
as we are Russian, it was a dish served many times at our house....Grandmom would serve it over noodles, or even over a baked potato...

No Egg Noodles, Tovarisch!
Real Stroganoff is served on potato, not egg noodle. Not sure who ever came up with that idea, but every school cafeteria in America served it that way. The best recipe I have found is from a Russian You-Tuber named Boris. Link attached below. It's in English, but beware...90% of Russian language is bad words! If you have time, his cooking videos are worth checking out. Cheburek, semechki halva, holodets, and home-made kvass are some of the goodies you will find.
