Reading 'the story'...

Makes me highly, highly critical.

The laundry powder has no bleaching activator, so will probably not work effectively at lower temperatures. Thus you'll have to use hotter water to achieve the same bleaching effect.

No enzymes, so cleaning and stains will take a hit. Does she even realise that enzymes could allow her to wash more effectively with less product?

Did I read somewhere that coconut soap is difficult to rinse out of towelling type materials?

I DO agree though, with the lack of perfumes/fragrances.

And what about suds control? None present as far as I can see.

Nah. Overall, I'm of the opinion that the detergent makers (P&G, Lever, Colgate, Henkel Dalli, etc) have researched the ins and outs of cleanability of detergent components, and got it down to a fine art - through proper experience.

Those super mega green eco 'detergents' (i.e.'soap' in disguise) promise a lot, deliver little and cost a bomb into the bargain. You'd get superior performance from a box of 'ACDO' soap powder.

Sodium Percarbonate

As one has stated previously is known as the "cold water" oxygen bleach.

Unlike sodium perborate which does not really get going until water temps reach 60c or above; sodium percarbonate will bleach at 40c or even 80c if not below. Yes, one may have to leave things a bit longer for serious stain removal, but the stuff will get you there.

Frequently do heavily embroidered linens at 40c or even 80c when badly stained. Using a scoop of SP a load done just last night in the Lavamat with Persil color gel that was badly soiled in red wine marks came out brilliant.

Good that the stains came out with little effort.

As a matter of interest, how long is a typical wash programme on your AEG?

Hours!

Default "Normal-Cottons/Linens 119 min. "Time Saver pressed once - 91 min. Time Saver pressed twice - 63 min.

Pressing "sensitive" or "stains" adds ten or so minutes to total cycle time

Maddening thing about this AEG is lack of cycle guarantee. If water is warmer than incoming parameters are set thus reaches temps faster, washer will simply abort about ten minutes of cycle. So a 63 minute wash goes down to 53 minutes.

Also shortening the wash cycles using "time saver" aborts or eliminates the recirculation portion of wash cycle.

"Maddening thing about this..."

LOL - Tell me about it!

My Panasonic has similar 'indecisiveness'. Started off at 1:51, then skipped to 1:45, 1:44, 1:43, then back to 1:53, counted down by the minute until 1:30-odd, then skipped to 1:24, then by the minute to 1:20, then hopped to 1:16.

Rinsing is madness. If it cannot do the interim spins due to imbalance, it adds an extra rinse. So two rinses becomes four. I'll swear that on one occasion, there were five rinses!

Spinning is a lot of flaky nonsense, lasting up to half an hour.

Half-witted machine.
