Marilyn Monroe's last refrigerator - a 1952 Hotpoint

Tonight I attended a special event at The Hollywood Museum, courtesy of www.yelp.com.  Aside from seeing a HUGE amount of photos, props, costumes, cameras, projectors, etc surrounding film, TV and Hollywood from the 1920's on, right now they're having a special exhibit on Marilyn Monroe and the entire 2nd floor is dedicated to it!

 

Extensive photos, property, clothing, documents, personal items, etc having to do with Marilyn.   One thing I thought was interesting was this 1952 stainless steel Hotpoint refrigerator she owned at the time of her death.   I had no idea they were doing stainless back then.

One interesting thing about Marilyn is she moved 40... yes forty different times during her short life, sometimes up to 5 times PER YEAR!  (They had a list of all her addresses and what year she was there.)

Only 6 of hundreds of photos of her on display.   They even have nude shots of here which were used in a calendar, but I don't dare post it here, sorry.

Finally.... the August 6, 1962 issue of the LA Times announcing her death.

 

I know I'm "pushing the envelope" of what forum this should be in, but since I posted her Fridge I figured it would be OK(??).

Time magazine pictured

is from 1956. Not 1936. She would have been 10 years old in 1936.

From the description that accompanies the pictures of her kitchen I get the impression the fridge is a 62 model. Not 52.

She was so beautiful and fragile. Never been anyone else like her before or since. Unfortuately, like so many other Hollywood actresses, she was used and taken advantage of. She never had the love or children she wanted either. Very sad.

I don't know where I got 1952 from on the Fridge.   Hmm...

 

On the Time Magazine date, I was trying to read the date thru the photo and with the reflection it looks like "1936" to me.  Again oops and my apologies.

One book I read described her fridge as a "robins egg blue Hotpoint", so all these years I pictured an all turquoise one. So the sides were painted blue to complement the tiles. What a pretty kitchen, I'm still sorry she didn't get a chance to enjoy that home on a long term basis. Here's her 1957 Magnavox portable television, a Magnavox collector sought out the same exact model and color, because her set went for more than $10,000 easily.

In thay picture also is the new Hotpoint push button drop in range, those were popular around here.They were introduced in 61.
