Working on an old Matag wringer washer. The wringer wasn't working properly and it was full of old dry grease and such. Well, when taking it apart I found the coil spring for the reset lever loose inside. Doesn't appear to be broke just not sure exactly how it goes. Does anyone have a picture or such that would explain how it fits.
Thanks

Coil spring?

Are you referring to the tension reset lever? I'm not an expert on the Model E (ask me anything about a model 30 or 32), but I could scan a few pages from my service manual.

You can purchase/download a copy of Maytag Wringer Service

Manual from the library of this site. In it there are instructions and pictures of inserting/reinstalling the tension lever and associated springs/parts.

Just looked it up and it is rather long to type as there are specific things that must be done simultaneously when reinserting this part.

In general it is a good idea anyway to have a copy of service manual for these washers (am up to three myself), as you never know what else will need doing in future. That and they make it easy to self-diagnose potential issues or problems. This along with if you need to make repairs how to do so and what parts are needed.

Finally as with all vintage appliances feel much manuals are always a good read so one gains an understanding of how things work. This way again if something goes wrong it is clearer where to look.
