It was a van-buster weekend at the sales this week - Friday was a fun day. At the first sale, I found a beautiful Hoover Concept One Vacuum, self-propelled from 1989. The Concepts were one of my favorite Hoovers, super cleaning machines. The other is a Eureka self-propelled, wide track 16" brush-roll. I've never had a self-propelled Eureka, nor the wide-track so this is a fun experiment. So far, it's a good cleaner although the outer edges of the brush-roll aren't as "sucky" as the smaller machines, but overall it's a decent machine. The self-propel is gentle and easy to manage but it's a little slow for someone who's used to vacuuming at full speed ahead...

Nothing sews like a Bernina. Nothing.

The other find of the week, perhaps of the season, is a 1995 Bernina 1090s sewing machine. It's absolutely MINT and show virtually no signs of use at all. I've always loved Bernina sewing products but sometime in the late 90's they moved the factory from Switzerland to Thailand and the quality has never been the same. These "old" designs are now much sought after and those who still have them are holding on to them... I have a little older machine (model 930) that I will sell as this newer one has more features.

Greg those vacuums and the sewing machine are beautiful. Glad that you had such a great weekend. The vacuums look like new!! Terry

both ARE very nice. in recent times ive become more interested in Hoover Concepts. think most would agree they still had that *old time* Hoover quality. yours has the colors of one of the earlier models, yet its not that old, i dont think ive seen that model before. and the eureka is very nice too. their self propelled machines have a certain mystery. i remember seeing a wide-track Eureka model at Sears when a child and thinking how weird it was.

Love the vacs. Would you "will" the Eureka to me pleeeze.. lol
I was trying to be good and not buy anymore stuff till after we move but it's proving difficult. I did let a concept go by last week since it was a little worse for wear but I gave in and picked up a nice Hoover floor polisher yesterday.

No Space!!!!

Well Greg, you`re finding space for all these vacs etc....and non for another Easy twinny....I think a visits in order to see what needs to be done....LOL

Love the Eureka power drive, have never seen one of those before, it must have been a good weekend all over cos I managed to pick up another "shedload" as well, sigh,,where`s Dr.Who`s Tardis when you need it!!

I`ve used a few of the Berninas and they are a smooth machine, the flat bed is a must...although my fav oldie at the moment is the Janome....busy looking for a computer embroidery model so I can do the logos on my vac bags...

Cheers, Mike

Greg, that Bernina 1090 is a beautiful machine!! A dream to sew on. The old chassis like that is much sought after. If you ever want to sell it.....
Actually, Bernina still has a sewing machine factory in Switzerland. My 200 was built there. They've moved the Activa line to Thailand, about 5 years ago. Aurora and the TOL are still made in Switzerland. New Berninas are still very good machines, but not the work horses the old series were. Great find.

Dam

I knew i should have stayed in town! But no i had to go to KC for the weekend, and I didn't get to hit any of the sales down there. Really great buys !
