Can't get rid of discoloration

Maytag recommends painting the lower inside of the heater shroud with Hi-Temperature silver paint to reduce the chance of coins etc shorting out the heater. I do not know how good it does but it sure makes the shroud look great.

Look up the thread where I restored a DE750 a year or so ago where I did this.

Saw your thread, it does make it look great. I know that Rust-oleum has a high temp spray paint in silver. I believe the little insulators are easy to remove and re-install.

While waiting for a back ordered part.

Took measurements of the air filter from the inside back part of the dryer. By the way it looks, it was never cleaned or replaced.

Really nice work!!!
It is going to look great!!!

Are you planning to use this for everyday use or as a collectible in good shape?

That is so cool!!!
I want to buy a vintage miele (T355 DE LUXE).
I will use it though....
It is in working condition now, so after being serviced, it will do the job.....

What do you think?

Porcelain drums

I will always admire the machines that used a porcelain cylinder instead of painted. Breathtakingly beautiful after all these years.

Blowing Bearing?

My 641c has a low growl, that seems to be getting louder with time. I'm pretty sure its coming from the blower assembly. Does anyone know if this sound is typical (which I suspect not)? If not, I assume a bearing is going bad and if so, what's the best way to approach fixing?

You can see the similarity between those and the old 1970s Hoover Tumble Dryers in this market. A lot of the layout (particularly the heating elements) and even components look very familiar.

This would appear to be some kind of a derivative of that design scaled down to European cabinet size and with some other modifications to the blower setup. It also had the filter at the back of the drum.

Similar blue porcelain drum too

There was one of these machines in my grandparent's house until the late 1990s and it had worked perfectly from the 1970s onwards! My grandad used to open it up once a year for a good vacuum cleaning to remove lint and it needed the occasional fan-belt change (the fan was directly behind the drum on those machines, driven from a pulley on the drum motor.[this post was last edited: 11/30/2013-17:31]

Update

Between work, trying to find a suitable gasket for the front opening, only to be disappointed twice after ordering, I finally obtain an acceptable gasket #302448. It works but still looking for the correct part. (#311436) (I have an ebay search on it)

Back end pic #3

Wanted to see how she looked with the outer skin on. I know I might have to remove it to connect a couple of wires to the heating element.

MT HOH Dryer

It is looking great Jason, I will let you know if I come up with a proper door gasket, It looks like you still have the aluminum motor pulley, you should put a motor pulley on your search list, once you start using this dryer you will see what I mean.
