I have been wanting a Maytag 806 for years, and never had any luck finding one on my own. Thanks to Jason (surgilator_68), I now own these beauties. Finding the washer was a dream, let alone a matching set. They both run like a charm. It is very nostalgic for me to use these two machines. So, this will be one washer I can now check off the list! More pics to follow....

The Miele washer sure gets dwarfed by the Maytag Washer!

Capacity-Wise, how do you find the Maytag washer compares with your Miele washer?

Miele vs. Maytag

I find that they both take about the same sized loads. That Miele may look small, but it will take a lot of laundry. Nothing cleans like a Miele though, so it remains my daily driver. The Maytags replaced a matching standard capacity Filter Flo set (1979). The Miele actually held about a third more laundry, compared to the Filter Flo.

Almond Tags

I think these are same tags that were sitting up front in the warehouse in Beltsville when I was there a bit ago. If so there were very nice machines, there is something very nice about lit console machines. What did you end up doing with your FF set?

Tim, Ben...

I am holding on to the FF set. I do not have room to leave it all hooked up at once. So, only one TL set at a time. :) I typically do not ever use the dryer, unless I am "fluffing" up laundry before it goes out to the clothesline (yes, year-round). But I did HAVE to actually dry one load in it. Its pretty quick, and dried evenly. Better than the GE dryer, IMHO.

The Miele beats it all. I have had a Bosch Axxis set for years, and I thought it was good until I got the Miele. My sister now owns the Bosch. But the Miele is better yet. The Bosch and Miele both have their short-comings, but both machines out clean any TL or other FL I have ever used. Both are built to last and are above average quality, but the Miele is like a tank. I would say if you can get a Euro washer, get one! There is nothing to regret in purchasing one. :)

Those look really great.

The 806 is a wonderful model and the one that I was really looking for when I started collecting Maytag top loaders. So now I have two 606 washers (one with Sudsaver) but both appear to need some work. Also an older electric "Halo of Heat" Maytag dryer. Huge, it is.

I agree about the Miele. I use my 1918A for whites. The Neptune 7500 however remains my daily driver as it's closer to the living quarters (the Miele lives in the workshop) and it can handle things like comforters/blankets better.
