Maytag A207 leaking water - suggestions appreciated

We inherited a gold A207 about a month ago & it's been working fine. But this afternoon, we experienced a significant water leak. Tonight, I investigated and determined that the water was leaking out of a hole in the tub where one of the support arms (rear right, to be specific) should be attached with a bolt. The bolt is currently missing as is the rubber gasket piece.

I pulled the machine apart to the best of my ability, but this is as far as I got. I don't own a spanner wrench but do have several channel locks. I need some guidance on how to separate the inner basket from the outer tub so that I can reattach the bolt to the support arm. I used a hefty amount of CLR but undoubtedly there is more calcium and lime buildup fusing pieces together. I just don't know one piece from the next.

Can anyone give me some additional guidance?

Repair.

I'm afraid you'll need the spanner wrench, but fortunately it's less than $20.00. The aluminum hub nut shown in your pictures is reverse threaded, by the way.

You'll need to remove the top of the outer tub. Then you'll need to remove the aluminum hub nut shown in your picture. Once that is out, you can lift out the cap that sits between the tub and the nut, don't loose it! Then pull the inner tub up and out.

What parts do you have? You'll definately need a new washer to go between the outer tub and the support, you may need a new bolt (it has a seal on the underside of the head), there is also a rectangular plate that goes on the bolt shaft on the outside of the support, a lock washer, and finally a nut on the outside of the support.

I've successfully removed those nuts with a hammer and a punch. As stated above, they are reverse thread. They can also be split with a sharp chisel, or a Dremel with a cutoff wheel, should it prove difficult to remove.

Since you're into it this far might as well go all the way; replace the stem/boot seal, inspect and/or replace the tub bearing along with new bolts. About $100 in parts, including the spanner wrench. (Remember the threads are left hand- clockwise to remove).

That machine appears to be in good shape and will run for years with a little service now.

Don't forget the A4298 agitator shaft seal.

The tub drain hose looked like its seen better days as well.

Thanks everyone. I received the parts yesterday afternoon & got to work last night. Used all your info to make the repairs. The old washer is working now!

Unfortunately, I ended up with two leftover screws... Grrr. We also have a small amount of leaking around the top of the tub during the spin cycle. Gonna pull it apart again tonight and try to figure out what still needs to be adjusted.

Tub Cover Gasket

Two more things:
When I pulled it apart there was not a tub cover gasket. Is one of these the correct part number?

Now it spins out of balance. I have tried adjusting the seating of the inner tub to no avail.
Any thoughts?

Still trying to figure out where my extra bolts belong. That may be the problem.

The #11232 is the correct tub seal, hard to believe there wasn't a seal in place.

The "bolts" are sheet metal screws, used for fastening the cabinet to the base, the top cover, etc. Highly unlikely they have anything to do with the spin issue, but I'll leave that to the experts.
