today i went to remove the agitator of my Maytag A482 washer in order to inspect the machine further than i previously had. However when i went remove the agitator bolt, i noticed that the bolt head was completely broken off, and from what i can see, looks like the previous owner had started to attempt (not very successfully) to drill out the agitator bolt. I’m afraid to drill it out as i don’t want to damage the agitator to the point where it causes problems or damage the agitator shaft. If worse comes to worse, i can order a new power fin agitaor for it, but i would prefer to remove this one without destroying it. Any ideas or methods i should try in order to remove the agitator?

Suggestion

What if you get some needle nose pliers, drill slightly around the place where the screw is so it makes a small divot and unscrew it. Then buy a new agitator screw on some OEM website. It’s a 3/16 size if you’re wondering

Unfortunately this did not work, as i don’t have a small enough pair of needle nose pliers to fit into the hole of the set screw in order to remove it. if there is any way to remove the agitator without removing the set screw that would probably work the best but i don’t know if that is possible
