Maytag A806 in Victoria

I'm sorry...

..but I don't understand why Maytag designated this model as an "A806". These machines should have been "A808's" in line with the rest of this lesser series. The noble A806 had a blue escutcheon, a tub light and a solenoid operated bleach dispenser. The gold paneled ones are a stripped-down version of what I think was their best automatic machine of all time.

no solenoids, just connected to the pump. My only gripe with the true 06's were the small HOH dryers. The 08 dryers were much better companions to the large capacity washers, IMO.

I did like the 4 button speed selector on the series 2 machines.

And I was never a huge fan of the HOH dryer. Except the near silent operation. But I must admit I may be a little biased as a servicer. I hate taking the whole cabinet off to change an element or door switch.

I think they looked good in blue or gold panels.

I've never used an HOH dryer, but I was strictly talking about the washer. Have used the bigger dryers and the ones with the reversible doors worked well.

The bleach dispense was only delayed until the tub was full and the agitation started. It was more a means of dilluting than delaying.

It's a "mixed set" you know.
Canadian versions of 'American' made appliances yielded some "interesting" designs. The GE dryer looks slick but certainly different. The plastic handle I have never seen without Chrome paint on it. The timer knob looks round as compared to the American paddle dials that are chrome trimmed.

Those Maytags are so cool, especially in Harvest gold.

Maytag Bleach Dispenser on A806?

Confused about some above mention of a "solenoid activated bleach dispenser." Wasn'it it just a small hose connected to the pump and when the tub was full to whatever level selected, the agitaion and pump went forward and that caused the pump to push tub water up to the bleach tank and then into the outer tub? Am I wrong?
