I was watching Robert's video of his 1949 AMP washing, and when it shifted into spin it made a loud "DING!" sound (an A-flat note to be exact...LOL). However, my later 1955 just "klunks", like a Norge. Was there some sort of a bell attached or was it just the style of solenoid used? And were there any later machines that made this sound, or was it only on the early models?

Inquiring minds want to know...

they did kind of ding!

....that sound is the solenoid bracket. When the solenoid snaps closed, it does sound like a ''ding'' of sorts! Mark

ding?

mine sort of make a bang sound.. the 54 is louder than the flat top..is sort of like a band like a hammer on thick metal..maybe it depends on the strength of the solenoid..now i did clean mine and put a drop of oil on my finger and rubbed it on the metatl slide in the solenoid so maybe it makes them move quicker? dont know
