Maytag Atlantis Rumble

Hi everyone,

I had a Maytag Atlantis (MAV7650AWW) which came with the house.  The owner said it worked but "rattled", so I took it out and put in spare room.  When I decided to try it out this morning, it fills with water and spins perfectly.  The issue is when its agitating it sounds like someone is shaking a box of rocks inside the machine.  Is it common for the machine to be able to spin but not agitate when having a bad transmission?

tranny needs repair-last time I had a tranny out on one of these,dissassembly was pretty easy actually During spin,whole transmission rotates and internals are not active.Might be worth a repair effort if you would like the machine and did the repair yourself

Yes, most of the inner workings of the transmission are not moving when the washer is spinning.
