Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I seem to recall that the top loaders in my condo had an upcharge for a warm water and a hot water cycle.. About $3.25 for cold, $3.50 for warm and $4.00 for hot.

It makes sense to me from a business perspective to upcharge for hot water cycles or lengthy cycles which use more water...

It's kind of interesting how much more attention I pay to the water meter, even though our utility bill is $1.38 per m3 of water. (1,000 liters or about 264 US Gallons.)

I can certainly see the motivation for moving to front loaders. There is a laundromat near me which has Electrolux machines, they don't upcharge at all for any cycle, I was kind of surprised to see that.

Then again, a Triple Loader wash is $9 there...

Thank You

PeterH770 and Malcom- Thank You both for educating me. I am NOT intrerested in the machine any longer. There is nowhere locally for me to get a hands on look at it. I was imagining it to have the orbital drive and porcelain tub/black maytag agitator....like in a local laundromat. Is that what the MAT12 is like? I do feel that my front loaders do a better job overall- especially with rinsing and extraction, but what got me on this "kick" is that they seem to go trouble free for 3-5 years and then need motors or other parts to revive them. The old Maytags (based on my own family experience) went for 15-30 years almost trouble free. I will always have a top loader as one of my daily drivers- looks like it will always be vintage Maytag. Thanks Again

The MAT15MNAWW is a mutt; it's built on the Whirlpool 27-inch platform and has a mix of parts.

Whirlpool Direct Drive
Whirlpool basket(3.2 cubic ft. The old model was 2.9)
Plastic outer tub
Maytag controls
Maytag agitator

Over a standard Whirlpool, the Maytag has some upgraded parts:

6-padded clutch
Different spin gear material
Different coupler
New transmission seals
Synthetic transmission oil

The MAT15MN is a bit noisier than the previous Newton-built MAT13MN. It's still a very good machine.

Tip: there is an export setting that allows the user to raise the water level back to normal. Behind the control panel are some wires. A simple switch takes care of it.

Maytag Commercial

I have used these washers before. I only do half loads in these machines. I just wish they'd do a spray rinse at the final spin and fill up completely with water. I do small to medium sized loads in these machines. They remind me of the Kenmore commercial washer.
I had a dream that a Kenmore commercial was a Maytag. Who knew it would be the case years later? It does sound like a direct drive washer from Whirlpool.

my experience with the maytag energy advantage

I've had experiences with this very model of washer here at griffith hall in SFA. Excuse this revival, but it's very important. First of all, the water level is indeed lowered. There are no spray rinses, not even on final spin. It is deceptive there are top holes yet you can't fill it up that high on "large". What were they thinking.
Many of the college students don't give a damn about their laundry. Well, I do. This is why I use the real maytags downstairs. it's the one closest to the door that fills up all the way.
