Hi, I have a Maytag dependable care washer. I think it need a timer but am not sure.

The model is LAT8206AAE. The symptom is I start the wash and it fills with water. After it finishes filling the tub, the machine doesn't agitate. I can hear the ticking sounds on the right side of the panel. I come back to the washer after 30 minutes and it reaches the end of cycle but water is still in the tub and softener is still full.

I have to move the timer forward manually just to remove the water. I try starting the wash again and after it finishes filling up, I hear the ticking again but i pull a bit on the knob and machine start to agitate. If i let go of the knob, it stops agitating. I someone pull the knob in a way, that the machine continues to agitate and finish a cycle.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is a picture of my timer. I looked online and some diagrams show two numbers for the timers, so i decided to remove the timer. Do you think it would be better to go by part number or the serial number/ model number?
