Mom's dryer, lsg7804aal stacked set, sounds like it's trying to die. I have a recording of one episode but it was doing more just prior to me recording it. Sounds like something in the motor but I'm really not sure. I've checked the blower, the rollers, and the drum alignment and I don't believe it's any of those things. It's only 30 years old this year! I don't really know how to put a video on here though.

Try this...first time. A few seconds after the video starts you can hear it drag down for a second. Prior to this it was doing it more frequently. It scared my mother, she thought it was something to do with the gas but all of that is fine. Blower wheel is nice and tight, belt fine, rollers fine.

I didn't notice any weirdness when it started just while it's running. As it runs and gets warm it will start doing that regularly causing the unit to really make strange sounds. I told mother not to worry we can still get motors even if I have to get a good used one...I have connections. When I get in there to work on it I'll replace other things while I'm on there...belt, rollers, glides etc. might as well. Maybe it will last another thirty years!

Try turning the motor shaft without the belt. Heat tends to dry out the oil from the wicking at both ends of the shaft and starves the bearings. The motor shaft will be hard to turn if that's the case. Otherwise, bad contacts on the start switch, centrifugal switch stuck/hanging up, other stuff, lol.
