Hi all i have found a mde5500 new iam wondering if they were any good because ther are 2 more still in box at a local hardware store herin mn thank you john

How much for that doggie in the window?

The MDE5500 dryer is a very good design. High cfm blower, coated drum and very good electronic controls. Also has a reversible door and they are pretty easy to work on. A very nice find in the box as they have been out of production for a few years. Parts are quite available. I'd love to know what price they have on them if you don't mind...

I didn't find anything objectionable about the one I refurbished for my neighbor several years ago, and haven't heard any complaints from him about it.

Notice the Burn

On the heating duct in the bulkhead of that dryer, the screen has burn marks on it where wet laundry has come in contact with it. I have noticed quite a few brands don't protect laundry from hitting this guard. Looks like a design flaw, but no correction has been implemented.

I think Whirlpool is the only brand that bevels the bulkhead in such a way as to direct clothes away from the shield.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Malcolm
