Cork tub gasket!
Yes, very old Maytags used the cork gasket. At some point, late 40's, early 50's maybe, they switched to a new material. Not sure if it's rubber or some polypropylene or another material. The newer one is black and very flexible. When I was doing my rebuild I bought a cork one by mistake. I think it was Geoff Delp that told me they are NOT interchangeable so I bought the correct one for my 1964 model E2LP machine.
I just checked and I still have the cork gasket stored with the rest of my Maytag stuff. It's of no use to me and I'd gladly give it to you like.
