A coworker of mine at the time ended up getting that washer and matching dryer when she married her husband. They got that washer at my suggestion. This was probably my most favorite post-center dial model of any of them. Wish they would have kept the 3-speed combo in their lineup, but I think this was the only instance. The rest of the time it was either 2-speed or 4-speed combo. And it had an extended soak cycle.
This was actually the only 3 speed combo that I think they ever did make. I have a friend that had this washer and it was a real work horse! I also wish they would have kept this 3 speed in their lineup!
I think you may be right on the 806 before they added the perm press cycle the 806 had a wash&wear button that gave regular wash action with a slow spin.
This is an A510.... had this same model that was back in 1982...that washer lasted until 2017. I changed out the filter to one that had the softener dispenser. The dryer was a Maytag DE710 ....very simple dryer and very accurate. Fast drying as well.
By the 12 series, Maytag used this button arrangement on the 412 and the 512 got upgraded to an infinite water level switch. They both also included a bleach dispenser and softener cups.
I can't remember now if the 411 or 511 models got a bleach dispenser.
The softner dispenser was added to the 510 model. At first when this new series came out in 1980 only the TOL 810 & 710 had the softner dispenser! But by early 1981 they went back to putting the softner dispenser on most models. The 511 had the bleach dispenser added! I'm not sure about the 411? By the time they went to the 512 they also added a white tub!
Yes, my bought new in 1984 511 has both the fabric softner and bleach dispenser and still hums like it just came out of the box new but has the old blue tub.
