Maytag Gas Washer-1980's style!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Actually, I had a gas Maytag dryer in about 1995 that did not have the telltale door. It had a tiny white plug that you could remove to see if the burner and glow thing was working. I think when maytag dryers went into the removable sericeable front panel design, they decided it was not necessary to have the door. I have a Maytag DG906 with the door and the front panel is not removable, the whole cabinet has to come off, so thank God for the burner service door. Funny, the gas washer! Maytag did make those, in wringer styles for farms about 75 years ago.

They are still used, in Amish communities.

There is an actual cottage industry built around renovating and repairing the old Maytag wringer machines (Speed Queen is represented, but to a far lesser extent).

I remember seeing at least one hooked up to a Honda engine!

There are no dryers. Everything is hung up on outdoor lines, to dry in the sun.
